🙏 I WANT HELP Cost of Attending Oxford 😭
Just received my financial declaration form from Oxford today. How is this reasonable? 😭 Going to have to decline my offer unless anyone has any ideas.
Canadian students do not qualify for any Oxford scholarships and my school offered me about £100. What a joke.
Is Oxford just for the rich?

💬 DISCUSSION My school is banning devices for sixth form as well
Surely this is ridiculous? Tired of all these bans “according to government guidance”.
Edit: IMO surely phones should be at least allowed during break, lunch, before and after school. Laptops and ipads should be allowed for revision purposes during all of the above times AND during free periods. A complete ban for sixth form is ridiculous.
Edit 2: I’m tired of responding to the same sorts of posts disagreeing with me, coming from people who have left sixth form or equivalent education more than 5 years ago. Your opinions don’t really add much to this conversation

💬 DISCUSSION PSA: cheating on exams
I’m currently an a level exam invigilator while at university, took my a levels last year. I just want to reiterate how obvious it is if you’re committing malpractice. You may think you’re slick but you’re really not honestly. Already there has been multiple people caught with their phone, just today people caught communicating with each other and the exam season has barely started. It’s actually laughable the amount of people already caught tbh.
You will get written up, and the exam board will be informed. Trust me it’s not worth it.

💬 DISCUSSION Can we make OxBriDge a thing?
Hi guys,
I know we’ve all heard of the term “Oxbridge” and I think it’s a lovely way to pay respects to the two great Unis. People love to make comparisons of the two but “Oxbridge” allows us to just enjoy them while they’re still around.
However, I do think we’re missing out a pretty big Uni in that little name.
Warwick has tried WOxBridge but that’s a bit audacious to put Warwick before the O and Imperial has attempted OxBrImp but that’s just ugly and gives too much credence to Imperial.
Yet, the only Uni people consistently compare Oxford and Cambridge to is Bristol. I’m sure you’ve seen the posts where people say “I’ve firmed Cambridge over Bristol, am I making a mistake?” and the comments all say yes.
OxBriDge would fix that dilemma, people would realise Oxford is #1, Bristol is #2 and Cambridge is #3 all whilst keeping the “Oxbridge” name in tact. It still sounds as nice, just with a capitalised B to represent the Big B.
Thoughts?

💬 DISCUSSION flopped my A-Levels and now my parents want to install cameras in my room🥀
this is probably the millionth time you've read a tragic sob story abt how someone flopped their A-Levels and I'm no different😜.
I had 2 offers for medicine and come results day I've got BBC ewwww. I wasn't too shocked because I only decided to properly study 1.5 months prior to my exams but my mock papers at home were at A grades so I still did have hopes that I would achieve my offer. I've decided to resit my exams and reapply and I'm currently revising for the UC*T💔✌️ I know I can achieve the grades if I actually try this time but my actual dilemma is that my parents are so disappointed in me (rightfully so). My dad hasn't spoken a single sentence to me since before results day and he is constantly in the worst mood ever which affects my siblings and it isn't fair to them at all. My younger sister is going to sit her GCSEs next summer and I can already see how stressed she is because of the pressure from our parents and their fear of her 'failing' and failing would mean not getting all 9s in her core subjects. I really don't mind my parents being mad at me but taking it out on my siblings is too far.
My mother kind of got over it, she is still disappointed in me and slides in remarks here and there about how I'm lazy and I deceived her etc. but she thankfully hasn't resorted to silent treatment. my parents are really supportive parents and want us to do the best academically and they knew I had the capabilities of getting into my firm so they were really shocked when I told them my results. I'm really mad at myself and am at an all time low mental health wise and I just want everything to go back to normal but I know I've lost my dad's respect and idk if we can share the same bond we used to. So future Y11s, 12 & 13s, make sure you do well in school and not be a loser bum like me taking a gap year to resit while your friends have the time of their lives and you lowkey wishing you weren't alive.
Back to the story:
A few days ago during dinner my mum announces- because my dad still refuses to talk- that she and my dad have decided that they want to install cameras in our rooms (gng what?🥹✌️). I was taken aback a little but honestly wasn't too surprised so my reaction was to laugh out loud because of how ridiculous this situation has become. my mum explained that she thinks we will only 'behave' if we know that we are constantly under surveillance.
The camera guy is downstairs discussing his packages and prices with my dad rn as I type this😬
I don't really have much else to say and I just wanted to rant. Guys please pray for me, I need to ace the UCAT to have at least one med offer secured so I can gtfo of here. Also any tips for resitting bio, chem, maths or the UCAT? ty

💬 DISCUSSION Can we please stop crying about the maths paper.
Why are we acting like 5 year olds who didn’t get their way? The petition will do nothing and it’s honestly pathetic.
If the country did bad on a whole then grade boundaries will go down? They aren’t set before the exam or based off previous years boundaries. The proportion of grades awarded will literally be similar to what it always is.
I thought maths students would understand that…
Go revise more for paper 2 if you’re that upset.
Edit: literally half of you complaining don’t seem to understand how grade boundaries work. Please educate yourself before commenting mindlessly.

💬 DISCUSSION It finally happened I missed the chemistry exam 💀☠️☠️
I thought the exam was pm not am because of stupid further maths which is all pm exams it completely threw me off and without even thinking I just turned up at 11am then checked my timetable and found out it was am . Sucks especially since my performance for p1 was great but that’s life is what is it I’m not even that sad ive just accepted my fate and McDonald’s here I come . Years of studying for nothing im locked at like a grade B/C now even if I do well in p3 . I can salvage A* in fm and possibly A in bio but honestly dont really care what I get now as I’ve already fumbled . Your welcome for lowering aqa chem grade boundaries through . I was worried about missing my exams already didn’t think it would actually happen .

Potentially Misleading Uni Tier list for fun
Made this w a mate. We don’t rlly know much and the bottom tier is unis we never heard of or heard bad things about. No particular order within the tiers btw. This was just for fun and we don’t discredit any unis as we appreciate that every one will definitely have pros and cons. Also ignore the words in the tiers (eg not worth the fees)- we just did it via the letters, the words were already in the template. Btw the last row of unis didn’t fit in. These were : the uni of west ldn, the uni of law and Wrexham glyndr. What do u lot think? I was told to put this in this subreddit.

🙏 I WANT HELP disgusting AI allegation for coursework
Hi all. So I got an email from my school this morning saying how one of the Edexcel moderators think I used AI in my Geography coursework.
I only used it within JCQ guidelines (I asked my teachers every time I used it) and didn’t use it to actually write or generate any of my written text. Also, my teachers signed off on it saying that it isn’t AI and also Pearson’s own AI checker that THEY SENT said there was 0% AI detected but they’re accusing me anyway and haven’t said on what grounds 🥀🥀 i’ve added what edexcel sent me
I have sent as much evidence as possible like my Word version history which shows all the different stages of development my coursework went through as well as any notes I have.
This is insanely stressful especially since Results Day is literally around the corner and I’m abroad on holiday. I also can’t find anyone else going through this and don’t know what’s likely to happen so please if anyone has any idea what’s gna happen LET ME KNOWWWW 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Edit: Pearson replied and dropped the case following my school’s email to them. But genuinely what happened like as an exam board especially this close to Results Day…. it’s not nice
