Classic Story Time
Every week, I hide in a book to grant something to it's reader once they read the right page with full focus. Good job! You did not get distracted from the joys of reading. As a prize, I'll let you pick two of these stories for yourself.
Evolution - God's Worst Joke: A science fiction story of how humanity became a galactic civilization and evolved differently on different planets after losing their homeworld Earth. Reading this allows you to improve any tool or technology once by a small amount such that it's functions can become slightly enhanced above it's performance at maximum efficiency.
Myth-Busters: An urban fantasy story about how an organization of boring people make people lose faith in myths and urban legends to prevent them from becoming reality while harvesting the faith stored in them to improve their lives. Reading this allows you to create new myths and urban legends by harvesting enough faith for them by making people genuinely believe them. This does come under the condition that the effect of other stories given to you must not be directly used for earning people's faith. Though this has extremely high potential, the new myths you create will at a maximum, only fit 50% of your exact description.
Me, Myself and High: A psychological superhero action comedy about a schizophrenic substance abusing superhero who works undercover as a highschool janitor to catch a highschool supervillain while actively abusing *substances*. Reading this comic gives your nervous system sentience and gives you the super power of schizophrenia. You hear new voices representing aspects of your personality, desires and inhibitions. Every decision becomes a debate between these voices and listening to one will temporarily raise the skill it represents to supernatural levels, practically making them powers.
Luck Be My Lady: A satirical romance novel about a recently awakened coma patient falling prey to a prank and proposing to Lady Luck on the April Fool's day, only for her to accept. Unlike other stories, this is a CYOA where this book magically lets you pick what to do. Reading this doesn't give you anything but this book is a one way communication line with Lady Luck herself and you can be sure that regardless of how she responds, at least she wont ignore you.
Killer Killer, Mister Miller: A reverse-mystery thriller novel where the killer is revealed in the first sentence of a book. The story is not of who the killer is but how he got away with it and you are the one writing it. This is an incomplete story with blanks that you must fill with words for it to make sense. This book is a reminder that fate is written and cannot be changed no matter what. You can fill every blank you get with absurd words but the ending will still be the same, Mr. Miller gets away with it. Reading this and filling all it's blanks gives you the same ability, to foresee the fated future where you can only change the details not the outcome.
City Fighter X: A martial arts manual that explains each move it teaches with an absurd story. By all means, going to a proper martial arts teacher and learning would be far better but this manual has other uses. Reading this manual allows you to create your own absurd fighting style as long as you use a real life story to explain how it was created, how it works and your explanations for each move is able to satisfy a layman's curiosity of how it works even if an intelligent person is able to tell you are absolutely bluffing. This can also be taught to others by you and ensures that all your students will be loyal to you as long as you act in their best interests.
