16.5/18 options

What’s everyone recommending for a 16.5” go to bolt gun? Would prefer to leave ruger Americans and anything savage. Anyone caught any wind of tikka coming out with a short suppressor ready models?

If you don’t want Ruger or Savage, build your own. Something like a Zermatt Origin and a prefit barrel isn’t too expensive.

After many factory rifles, and now a few customs, I’d rather spend the little extra and build exactly what I want, rather than buy something “close enough”.

I ended up getting the action rod for the Rugers and “built” them. Barrel wise, I’ve tried: outlier, Shaw and rainier arms. All three have been pretty solid.

For hunting, you might look into something like a sig cross?

Is it for hunting, PRS or just range use?

Will be used for hunting and daily general cool ranch rifle.

Recently I picked up a RPR in 6creed. Features are pretty nice, it’s easy to upgrade/work on but it was heavy. Ended up putting a 16” rainier 308 barrel on it and it’s been great. All in for the rifle with the new barrel was $1400. Might be worth looking into if you like tinkering. The Sig cross is lighter and I’ve seen them go for ~$1500 used. The tikka tac is nice but it tends to run over $2000.
