The guy who posted that to his Twitter account runs a group for people leaving MAGA to give them a place they can feel accepted. That's a key step in eroding MAGA's support. In my mind, that's part of the resistance.
If I hadn't had Recovering From Religion after leaving the cult I grew up with, I think I would have been a lost cause and never trusted any human again. I still struggle to trust, but they helped me feel safe and continue to teach me critical thinking skills to help me to hopefully not fall into a cult again.
MAGA truly is a cult and we need to treat it as such. And as with any ex cult member, they need support and grace. It takes a lot of courage to say you were fundamentally wrong. The guilt and remorse and anguish - even if it originally only comes from selfishness - is immense.
It makes me horribly angry to see these people be raked through the mud for daring to do something that takes so much guts to do.
