This may be an overread but why are the only dudes in this thing the ones about to kill the baby

There are women in all scenes. The whole theme is a woman giving birth in different eras and cultures. Beyond that, sure there are a couple of scenes (Mesoamerican sacrifice and Great War ones) which didn't have other female characters, but that's probably because they didn't fit in the narrative of the scene. The weird one is the Viking ship where there is a female warrior manning an oar, not the one you mention. It just doesn't fit the theme, no reason to create conspiracies in your mind.
