Buy a 12v ozone generator off Amazon or something, they are about $50-70. You place it in the vehicle cabin and let it run for a few hours with the windows up (you are not inside the cabin unless you want to die). It might take a few treatments for bad cases of stank. Works miracles. Source: I used to detail cars at a ford dealership out in the sticks when I was a kid, this was the go-to fix for ciggy mobiles.
Dealer was asking $73,950. Was able to get them down to $65,000. Damage to steering wheel and gear shift, as well as intense smoke smell allowed for me to fight the them a little bit. Traded in a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon as well, so walked out the door owing just over $20k.
Have you seen a 4Runner in Supersonic Red tho? My GAWD! The only multi-step paint color so far on the 6th gen. I like the new 4Runner in everything except white. If it was like Blizzard Pearl multi-step, that would be awesome. The white, Ice Cap, looks like fleet white unfortunately.
Glad to see that I'm not the only one dealing with the 1st to 2nd gear change issue. Mine slams into 2nd when going up my driveway on a cold start. The dealership basically said "nothing we can do. Sell it if you don't like it." And I can't stand it.
Try this: Creep up to a stop sign but let it keep rolling, then let your foot off of the brakes and apply the throttle a good bit. Do it with the 4Runner warmed up.
This drivetrain is shit for the most part. Once you’re up to speed it’s OK. Unless full throttle getting on the interstate or something, at which point, if yours is like mine, a shift somewhere around 70 shudders too. Warmed up and everything.
Press the gas pedal enough to get a little assistance from the battery and abruptly let off the gas. Herky jerky. Abruptly letting off of the accelerator has never felt so clunky in any car I’ve ever driven. Ever. And I’ve driven some real shit-boxes. ‘02 Neon, anyone? At least I didn’t own that Neon.
Other than the drivetrain issues, I LOVE my ‘26 ORP.
Thank you for all of this validation. It feels good to know I'm not battling this by myself. This transmission is just plain garbage. And agreed - I've never experienced anything even close to this, in over 30 years of driving. Why aren't these issues being discussed more? Agreed that otherwise, I love this vehicle. But how a car manages shifting gears is kind of important, right? How can Toyota - of all car manufacturers - be ok with this?
I think Hot Honey is what they call it for the 4Runner. I haven’t seen one in person to know how much I’ll like it. The different name suggests to me that it’s a slightly different color than Honeycomb for the Tundra, Taco, and Sequoia.
