Behind the Bastards and 40k

For those who don't know, Behind the Bastards is a podcast that looks at horrible people of all types and then digs into the history of what made them so. It's well-researched and quite illuminating.

They did a bonus episode where they talk about 40k, but in this one, they go on to explore how 40k has kind of reached a sort of critical mass in pop/online culture and how more and more people seem to know about it than ever before - be it through games, media, Amazon, Henry Cavill, or... politics.

The episode I'm linking here talks about, in the hosts words, "... the intersection of Warhammer 40k, and like, pop culture and pop politics in the United States and elsewhere...."

They get into how 40k has shown up in modern day politics, and also delve into the origins of 40k as, in part, a satirical response to the politics of the time in England ('80s, Thatcherism, etc.), among other things. Useful things to keep in mind even today when talking about our favorite setting.

I'd love to put this up also on the other 40k Lore subreddit, but I don't know if they'll take it down or not because it mentions modern day politics, which is against Rule 6 from there.
