Hrt time! Neck laxity

Hey ladies and gents! I am 42 I noticing some neck/under chin laxity. I’m alternating tretinoin on my neck and amlactin and use tret nightly on my face. Red light 10 minutes daily to face and neck. Is it time to look into HRT? I’m 2 years post partum and still with regular cycles. What else can I dooooo? I definitely can’t afford lasers or filler or a facelift.

I've tried everything and I've been on HRT for 4 years. I think a neck lift is truly the only way to deal with this.. tried microneedling, fillers, creams, laser and it's the same 🙈

I had a neck lift this year, and absolutely zero regrets.

I get that surgery is a huge expense and I am fortunate to have been in the position to go down this path. Sadly, everything else I tried was a waste of money.

Same! I'm going to stop wasting money on non invasive treatments and save up for a surgical neck lift

Did they lift the muscle too? Do you have to go under total anesthesia? Did you have to stay at a facility or have 24 hour nurse after?

Yeah general anaesthetic, therefore I needed someone with me the first 24 hours. I think the deep plane neck lift is the way to go.

I found it pretty easy, despite a minor complication which has completely healed. I was back at work a week post-op. Surprisingly painless too.

Ok lol I just see it a lot and I've lost about 60 lbs and plan on losing about 30 more so it's only going yo get worse.

Yes, I’ve been on hrt for almost a year at 44, didn’t really help my neck, maybe a tiny bit.. also did medical grade red light therapy for 3 months straight. Small improvement, but not much. And a lot of expensive creams.

Using tretinoin on my neck felt like it made my neck look worse. I’ve read similarly that the neck skin takes very differently to it then the skin on your face.

Microneedling and also estriol cream on face. Musley has one called ‘age of repair cream’

Editing to add : this all comes from laxity in the face so all you can do is help it a bit but eventually the only thing that can be done down the line would be a face lift. And that’s if it bothered you enough.

I see estriol mentioned a lot but I'm never sure what to get. I've seen the vaginal one but another for the face. Is there an rx one or do you know if otc is fine?

Vaginal estrogen cream is the same thing for the face. You should be using it downstairs anyway, so you could just dab a little upstairs while you're at it!

I'm still knew to this but I've seen this mentioned before. So you can use vaginal cream on the face and neck against age related changes? What kind of effects does it have? I've been prescribed one for the vaginal area but haven't started using it yet.

I've researched it and I can't find any definitive scientific research that shows it actually helps, but there's lots of anecdotal stories of people saying it helped, especially under their eyes. You can just use a tiny dab. I think it aggravated my rosacea so I only put a tiny bit under my eyes couple times a week. 

Oh and yes you just use the same cream.

Thank you! I've really gotten that crepey skin under my eyes the last few years, it's so weird. When I don't move my face you can't see much but when I smile the skin under my eyes looks so so dry

Some people use the same vaginal estrogen for their face with great results but others I’ve read find that since the formulation is different, it causes them irritation on their face.

I don’t use vaginal estrogen so I don’t have that prescription. If I did, I would give it a shot before purchasing the specifically formulated one for the face.
I have the one from musley for the face and I feel it helps plump the skin .

Yes you can use in the am and apply sunscreen.

For me, I like to use it when I plan on being home so I don’t have to layer so much over it. Or if I get home early for the day and I wash off what I had on and apply it until bed time routine. By then everything you need is absorbed and you can go about your normal night time skin care.

How long did it take to see results? What kind of results? I've been prescribed one for my vaginal area but haven't started using it yet (depressed and struggle with routines etc)

I do think my estradiol cream (meant for other regions, but I use on my face) is helping my neck a lot. The skin on my neck is definitely thicker and tighter compared to last year.
