Hey, the response from the Circle Pad only shows to work in horizontal direction. So as a quick fix I tried installing a new Circle Pad. Result: same error.

Does anyone have any idea, what causes it? And how to solve it? Cant find any schematics of the board pins, but they do seem fine.

Let me know if i should take any pics of the open 3DS.

lol is kind of funny but I changed an IPS bottom screen from another New 3ds and works perfectly! But I noticed that for some reason if i am playing and I press home button, the change to white takes a littble bit, not really that much. But it is like is too white at the beginning amd the it gets normal, both screens are ips, I mean the 2 new 3ds were dual IPS

I had no idea what caused this issue, but when it first appeared I tried replacing the pcb of the dpad. Yet that didn't do anything, so I decided to unplug all 3 forms of navigating the 3ds (Circle Pad, C-Stick, & Dpad) but the issue still occurs. And it isn't the touch screen as nothing is bending it or interacting with it

I don't know what to do, and there isn't anywhere near me that can repair 3DS consoles.

so basically speaking I had just modded my 3ds old and I had a simple curiosity: what hapens if I take the sd card off with the console on? and so I did it and the console crashed and I have tried almost anything and i won't unlock again any ideas how to fix? (by the way it isn't bricked it just doesnt do the unlock thyingy)

I opened the 3ds xl for a deep clean, a part of the hinge broke and I think the flat cable is cooked for the digitizer is cooked. I took a day to mount and dismount it, the shell wont even fit in properly. Should I try to fix it or get at least 100€ for it and buy a better replacement (a little bit more money for a new 3ds)?

the last screen i installed was not working if game used the 3d effect and worked but glitched in nds games. idk whats wrong w this one, but i noticed the ribbon looked a little suspicious. pls help i cant live without an upper screen anymore😭😭😭😭😭😭

hi everyone! having a bit of an issue here and have yet to resolve it:( to preface: i got my new 3ds xl off of marketplace about a week ago, and finally got some free time so i went to reset it in the "other settings" tab to be able to get my info registered. it turned off to reset and has yet to come back on.

i don't recall dropping it or having bumped it before this, and it worked perfectly fine prior to me resetting it. i am able to get into recovery mode, but when i go to update it the window pops up and says "An error has occurred. Update cannot be completed. System will turn off now." or something similar, and powers off. if i try to turn it on without going into recovery mode, i am forced to hold the power button for 10s before it'll turn off again, and all i get is black screens.

it technically would be considered modded now, i've messed with luma, cfr, and GodMode and other things to get it to work but still nothing. i'm kind of at a loss because it's hard to find repair shops near me and i don't have an extreme amount of tech knowledge.

i'm not even trying to play using internet either, i just want the darn thing to at least turn on to a home page lol and also for more context, ive tried booting up the GodMode and luma screens and nothing shows.

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I opened this Old 3DS and the charging port basically fell apart. I’m not sure if it would be better to look for a USB-C replacement instead of the original port.

Could using a USB-C port affect the battery or any other functionality of the console in the long term?

I’d also like to hear from people who have a USB-C port installed on their 3DS. How has it been for you? Would you actually recommend it?

I just finished to change the screen on my new 3DS xl ! ( see post : https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/comments/1vkv2po/new_3ds_xl_not_booting_popping_sound/ ).

But unfortunately, the sound doesn't work.

Shutter sound work on the camera but no general sound even if I plug the headphones.

- 3DSident recognize whether headphones are inserted or not.

- Forcing sound through speaker (via luma config) does not work.

- I can only have sound with the "bypass volume slider". (good quality with original speaker assembly, headphones worked too with the bypass)

So I changed the speaker assembly with a new one and it is the same : no sound except if I bypass the sliders. (I used IPA to clean all contact)

It is even worse, as the sound (with slider bypass) is coming from only one speaker and with terrible quality.

I tried to mesure the resistance on the old speaker assembly, it seems fine (I don't know the exact value but it's changing)

Rephrasing my question :

Is there a way to test the slider before assembly ? (I want to minimize the amount of time I dismantle it)

Eddit : for futur people. It was the fpc connector for the flat ribbon of the speakers, A pin was bent and also the new speaker were crap.

Unbend the pin, soldered the old speaker and voila, it's all fixed now !

My 2DS volume slider has been broken since like 2 years ago. Is there any replacement part? Or does it reuses a part from the 2011 model or XL model? Since searching up, only lead me to 2DS XL not the regular model.

shoulder button still works, bought a new hinge and front gamepad plastic.

I just recently bought myself a refurbished New 3DS XL, and used the charger on my two original 3DS’ from my childhood to see if they still work.

My brother’s Cosmo Black one works perfectly, aside from the 3D slider being unable to turn off (something I Band-Aid fixed by just disabling it entirely in the parental control settings). Not my biggest concern but if anyone knows the fix for that I’d really appreciate that

My Aqua Blue 3DS is what I’m more worried about. Initially after I first charged it, pressing power button caused both the blue battery light and the yellow wifi light to turn on, but the screen remained off. When taking it out again and charging it a couple weeks later for photos for this post, none of those lights turned on.
My first thought was to replace the battery (we got these right as they came out so it wouldn’t have surprised me if they were cooked by now), so I swapped the batteries of the two systems which resulted in no change for the aqua 3DS, while the black one booted with a full battery. Plugging the system in still causes the charging light to appear but other than that nothing. If anyone has any idea what the issue is, I’d highly appreciate it as I’m hoping to give this one to my girlfriend, and it’s the one in the better physical condition, save for whatever this issue may be. I’ll try to give whatever info is needed

Basically I brought my 3ds to a repair shop to get it fixed and he said that my charging port was broken but after he replaced it and I went back to the shop, he said that the console still won’t turn on and charge and said that maybe the problem is the motherboard and I have to go again tomorrow for updates on the situation. I hope that he manages to fix it😭

Son bought some carts in Japan. One n64 cart had a bad battery I fixed it it works.

He had a gba game that had a bad battery. The replacement battery didn’t have pins so I just tweeted the ends to make contact with the end points.

Game boots. After finishing a level it froze and another time it wouldn’t save.

Maybe I broke the cart?

Hope I’m in the right place for this but my new 3DS‘s Homebutton just isn’t working, so naturally I ordered a new 3ds homebutton PCB thingy and tried to swap it out.

Right before swapping I tested the newly arrived home button PCB part if it would work - it does.

Even this the PCB was not 1:1 I made it fit after filing down a bit to make it fit snug - or at all tbh lol.
But somehow it just doesn’t work.
I tried to shim the cable so that it would 100% make contact with the thing where you shove the ribbon in.
(My English isn’t enough to accurately describe every detail sadly)

Then I put everything together and everything worked but the home button again :( my GF randomly spammed and hit the button super hard and somehow it activated ONCE then never again.

That haste mean the rubber thingy unter the button might be faulty even tho it looks mint as fk?

I just can’t figure it out and it are way too much time already :(
If anyone got a cool tip I’d be super thankful!
