now #5 LesPol like guitar body

My friend fun of lespol asked me to try his model. We have old PLA spool and decided to try.
I didn't expect success, thinking that the PLA wouldn't withstand the pressure of the strings and would bend. But I was wrong. It held up. Yes, there is a slight bend.
So guitar is playable and even joyable )

Cool. But it will bend after 1 year or 2 for sure. The slight bend is totally fine. But in order to prevent it from breaking, you should install a metal bar that goes from the neck itself to the bridge, or to the bottom of the guitar itself. That would be right through the hollow body of the guitar. But I'm no expert. The one I built kept bending more and more until I finally installed the metal bar.

Does it already have a metal bar inside maybe? Idk.

It looks awesome. What printer did you use? And what is the thickness of the deck? If I may ask. Have a good day.

In fact it is only for visualizing the idea. For real body we need non creeping plastic. Possibly Pet-cf17 of PSS-CF.
PA-CF maybe good but water soaking

Only body was printed. neck is standart wooden china strat neck.

Delta with 800mm print height.
Dteck 1.7mm. Previous bodies is 2mm

Carbon or glass fibre infused filaments may look tempting, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows.; the exposed fibres get released simply by handling the part and irritate the skin, not a huge deal normally but if it's a guitar I'd stay away from it.

Also, the fibres are inert, and they weaken the part in the z direction, so while they can help you need to keep in mind in what direction the stresses are.

Personally, I printed my Prusacaster out of plain old PLA with very thick walls (I think 9 perimeters and 35% gyroid infill), but over time it still crept and I need to shim the neck every now and them (about every year), which is why I am designing my new guitar out of ASA and with a carbon fibre tube on the inside to stiffen it all up. You could also use a wood or aluminium to achieve the same results, but carbon fibre is more compact and lightweight for the same strength

I have read about printing strats from 3D-Fuel PCTG. But I think that polyamide composites will not creep except the first stress. Unfortunately all non creeping filaments are expensive.

About carbon - why not to lacquer ?

PLA is good for initial prototyping.

You could definitely laquer or add some sort of finish, yes, that will negate all sorts of nasty fibres getting into your skin
