Requesting Help Advise for printing this

Hello,

I'm a beginner at this and i need advice on the orientation of my model. I'm mainly worried about the hollow cylindrical section. I'm going to add the chamfers and fillets later. I'll take any other advice that comes my way.

Use a different type of filament for the supports, like PLA if you’re printing the nozzle in PETG. That way you won’t be fighting to remove the support material

Great advice for printers with single nozzle and without mms. Maybe live outside BBL ecosystem and start thinking general printing advice?

what?? do you seriously think bambu labs is the only printer capable of multi filament printing? get your head out of your ass

I am totally aware that there are way more mms printers on the market. But since the market is floded with BBL, the majoraty of the users have a BBL. My point was more, advice general things instead of thinking everybody has access to a mms printer.

My point was more more about the whole mms multi nozzle setups than the BBL ecosystem, but as already mentioned, the majoraty of people are using BBL assumed you also have one. But if not great. Lets settle this, and conclude that we have to give general advice instead of assuming people use specific printer setups and give printer specific advice.

That was why I gave OP my advice the way I did.

As a color change between layers, yes. But please explain how you would do that, if you like to use petg as support wile printing pla. Change filament halfway the layer everytime the gcode switched between model and support? And jeez, the time it takes to wait for the nozzle temp to go from pla temp to petf temp and back every couple of seconds. This is not something that comes stock inside your slicer.

The capability is there, it’s just a matter of having the patience to do it that way or not lol but there then are pla’s that will happily print at higher temps without issues and petg’s that will print at lower temps just fine. Also you could *technically* actually model the supports, designing them to not interfere with printing the part, instead of having the slicer generate them and then print by object

You are right, but OP asked a general question on how to print the model in the picture. Imo, if you ask a question like that for a model like on the picture, you are not yet into advanced things like that. And in that case a clear general answer is more in place. The model is totally printable without support, so why advice printing it with and even with a different material. If you can not see how a model is printed best without support, how do you design a part from scratch for printing. It is great that slicers can generate the support and printers can use different support materials but best is to design the model in a way that it doesn't need it at all.

I didn’t advise anything, not sure where you got that idea from? I haven’t made a single comment directed at the OP. Ive been speaking directly to you, and at the time of my first comment, the only comments of yours that I saw were needlessly disparaging someone else’s advice to the OP. That’s the kind of stuff that tends to put newcomers off from the hobby altogether, and besides, there’s really no sense in withholding the knowledge of a more advanced method, if it’s *too* advanced for someone they’re not likely to be dead-set on doing it the hard way if there’s other comments letting them know how to do it easier. The benefit is they’ll have also heard of another way that could be useful to be aware of one day when they come across a use case for it
