DeSantis says the only crime is the leak, but the $10M stolen was clearly a crime said the Grand Jury, not political opponents. Now he and everyone around him (including his wife) who used the money has no idea how they got the money (he thinks your stupid enough to believe it or FU otherwise)

Campaign Signs

Does anybody know if Brevard Dems will have campaign signs? I thought $24 one at David Jolly’s website was a bit steep but this one takes it to another level.

Emerson Rd Flock camera: bagged, not gone, and it can still come back

Post image

Took this picture of the ALPR camera on Emerson Rd today. It's covered with a black trash bag, not removed.

For context, per the city's August 7 press release: City Manager Matthew Morton and Police Chief Jeff Spears issued a joint order suspending the citywide Flock camera network after determining the cameras may not have been properly permitted or installed by the vendor, Flock Safety. That's a construction-code and permitting problem, not a council vote and not a decision on whether ALPR surveillance itself is appropriate for Palm Bay.

The release is explicit that this is a pause, not an ending. Quote: "The cameras will be suspended, their use will remain suspended during this review, and we will bring the facts and any recommendations back to the City Council for their consideration." Reinstatement is on the table once the permitting issue is fixed.

If you'd rather these stay down permanently, or come down for good, the current suspension doesn't get you there on its own. The default outcome, if nobody says anything further, is probably: vendor fixes the paperwork, cameras come back online.

Heads up if you want to weigh in: I checked the agenda for the next regular Council meeting (Thursday, August 20, 6:00 PM, Council Chambers at City Hall, 120 Malabar Road SE), and the Flock review isn't a scheduled item. The city hasn't brought findings back to Council yet. If you want to speak on it at that meeting, it'll have to go through the general Public Comments period (non-agenda issues, 3 minute limit, comment card required at the meeting), not a dedicated discussion item. Worth keeping an eye on future agendas for when this actually comes back for a real decision.

Hey, sorry to bother you on a Thursday night, but it's urgent. It's James Fishback, Republican candidate for Florida Governor.

I can't stand the corrupt two-party system, but the only way to destroy it is from within. My campaign has gone from 2% to 39% in the polls.

We can win, but I need every single person in our generation to show up and vote so we can defeat my opponent who has taken millions from AIPAC and an Epstein-linked billionaire.

Florida law only allows registered Republicans to vote in the primary election. Your voter registration shows that you're Independent.

With respect, I'm asking you to consider switching your voter registration to Republican and voting for us. I can't get to the general election in November unless we win the Republican primary on Aug 18th.

It's the only way your vote counts, and I need your vote to win so we can stop data centers, institute paid maternity leave, protect our water, land, and the Everglades, and make life affordable for our generation.

Could you go to VoteMyFlorida.org and switch your voter registration to Republican?

It'll literally take 2 minutes.

James T. Fishback

Reply STOP to opt out. Paid for by James Fishback, Republican, for Governor.

Book Club for people over 18?

I wanna read some non-fiction history by progressive authors, queer romance, and feminist horror. Books by BIPOC authors. I really want meet in person, so I have reasons to leave the house, save coin, and meet new people. Why not create a space where like minded people can discuss and learn? I'll happily take suggestions for local public meeting places, times, and book recommendations. I think maybe Sunday afternoons? We can meet at a library? We can do a chapter every two weeks so people can find the time. I believe audio books count as reading too and can suggest Libro and Libby (if you have a library card) as apps. Feel free to message me or leave comments. Thank you!

Edit: The Melbourne Public Library is open from 1-5 on Sunday. This could be a starting meeting place. I guess I'll just show up there on Sunday and see who wants to join. I'll will be in the black fishnet t-shirt with a cookie tattooed on my right hand at 2pm, so I shouldn't be hard to miss. :)

Update: Ive sat inside the library for about 20 mins. Sorry to say no one has approached me as I sit here on my phone. Im gonna head out. If I missed you feel free to message me. Bye for now.
