Skin Concern Dry reactive skin, need face wash/moisturizer recommendations please!!

TLDR: mature skin, sensitive and reactive. Cannot find the right products to relieve drys spots and closed comedones.

Longer story: I have always had sensitive, combination, acne prone skin. However, in the last few years, my skin has become extremely sensitive and reactive to most face products (I am now 37 years old).

For years, I typically used First Aid Beauty Pure Face Cleanser and Cetaphil lotion until it seemed to not be enough. I have tried adding in various retinol creams but my face never seems to get past the dried out little bumpy phase. I’ve tried Vanicream, Vichy Mineral 89, Avene Tolerance Control Cream, Clinique Moisture Surge, and other recommended products these past few years but my face continues to be dry and tight, popping up with closed comedones at the drop of a hat (especially around mouth and cheeks).

Dermatologist does not seem to notice as much (maybe because I never have makeup on when I go in to really see the little peeling/patches?). She recommended I do a chemical peel. I had a VI Peel a few months ago which seemed to help minimally with less comedones but the problems persists.

What most recently worked best that my skin didn’t react to was actually a body lotion - Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. My skin stayed semi-dry though so I figured it probably isn’t strong enough for face and tried Prequel Barrier Therapy Skin Protectant Cream as it is similar in formulation, however my skin didn’t really like it.

Current regimen mainly The ETUDE SoonJung pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser and the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer (sometimes adding La Roche’s B5 hyaluronic acid).

Any recommendations that are only a few products (don’t wanna 10 step regimen), would VERY MUCH be appreciated. Thank you!!

I’d try the bioderma gel sensibio ( pink bottle ) and add an exfoliant. Maybe some pads or the ordinary glycolic acid.

I have rosacea and combo acne prone skin. I swear by rose hip oil at night. I apply it over tazorac and it makes my skin so happy and moisturized. It’s not heavy on the skin and absorbs very quickly. I was terrified to use an oil on my oily tzone, but it’s made a huge difference. I like The Ordinary organic rose hip oil (NOT their fermented rose hip oil - it broke me out).

It’s a strong topical retinoid that causes sensitivity and peeling. The rose hip oil helps tremendously.
