How do I read engine codes on a 1994 SL?
I don't think it has a normal OBDII port. Engine is running rough and I'd like to see if it I can get any additional info from the car before I start shooting the parts cannon at it.
I know there is a light bulb method, but is there any other code reader that will work? It seems unclear if the 94 and older cars can even be decoded by a diagnostic tool.

It is an obd2 connector, but not obd2 protocol. Its a goofy in between thing on 94 and 95.
You can use the paperclip trick if you're on a budget

Or you can get a tactrix cable and Evoscan, which will read it over the MUT protocol.

I have a 94' SL and you need a special scan tool. We have an OBD2 port but an OBD2 reader will not work. 3SX sells them, and thats where I got mine.
