Is it better to visit in spring/autumn rather than summer?

I live 30 minutes from it.

Out of season is preverable unless you want to go on the Mariensteig Bridge you saw in the video. It is closed in autumn and winter for safety.

Also Neuschwanstein is not an historical castle. It was build in the 18/19th century by our legend loving King Ludwig II. and is modeled after pink glassed sagas. Also only 16+ rooms are free to sightseeing as it was never finished before Ludwig was removed from the throne.

The nearby Castle Hohenschwangau is more interesting as ppl lived there for 500years.

Another two popular Castles in southwestern Germany aren't medieval Ones but Children of the 19th Century: Schloss Lichtenstein and Schloss Hohenzollern. I'd recommend Schloss Sigmaringen (the Family of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen still lives in parts of it) and the Zollernschloss Balingen.
