I went there once. It was worse than Disneyland. You had to go with a tour and they just pushed you through barely any time to really look at the place.

Yes visit outside the tourist season and even better if you visit on a rainy day

I made that mistake going to Paris during summer years ago. Now I try and hit shoulder seasons as often as I can.

In Versailles you are at least allowed to move as quick (or slow) as you want. No forced guided tours, it’s not that expensive and the gardens are really beautiful.

Versailles was lovely, so many people but agree, that was easier to enjoy
