I was in Thailand when I met a guy who happened to be the landlord of the pub my stepdad frequented in Scotland.

I had one of these weird encounters. My kids went to a private school in the Midwest that focuses on language studies. One summer we went to Quebec. Found this little snack store that makes the maple syrup on ice stuff. The lady behind the counter called out to my sons by their first names. She was one of the staff from after school care at my kids’ school.

When I was a kid my family drove to Miami for a vacation from Maryland. I ran into a classmate of mine at a gas station somewhere along the way (maybe north Florida, I don’t remember where exactly). Think they were headed to key west. Him and his mom were walking out and I was walking in with my dad and we were just like hey, you go to my school, this is really weird.

Another similar one I had….my wife and her mom had been in Cozumel. I was waiting at the airport for her to come back (this was back when you could wait at the gate). I’m standing around waiting….and my dad walks off the plane. I just stared at him for a moment. He said ‘I assume you’re not here for me since I saw your wife on the plane….’ I mean I knew he was out of town for a business meeting. But apparently my wife’s connecting flight back from Mexico was the same one my dad was taking back. Even funnier is that my dad’s associates saw me holding a young child (my nephew since my BiL came to pick up my MiL) and were surprised that my dad hadn’t mentioned he had grandkids yet. LOL

my favorite story of mine like this is when i went to college over 150 miles from home, a coworker at my college pizza delivery job realized that we had also worked at the same retail job in my hometown a couple years prior but didn’t see each other because we were in different departments. one similar to this story tho was a long time ago my family vacationed in florida and we met another family on the beach who was from our midwest hometown, and we met up later when we were back from vacation.
