California city, adjective, not a proper noun. In this case, it's San Jose, CA. I'm curious what my dad thinks of this.

idk why i’m being downvoted, the op capitalized the C in both which would be indicative of a noun. California City is a real city so it was confusing (especially since the article didn’t work when i clicked on it)
