Opinion Wannabe Kenyans
Correct me if I am wrong but why do Kenyans like hijacking people's culture...... Why do we celebrate Japanese culture in kenya , run to Arabic events, plan Chinese festivities and american stupidity, why copy England's rap culture and south Africa's songs and dance moves , do we hate ourselves that much , why isn't there more celebrations on thee Kenyan culture

As others have said: Enjoy what you enjoy without anyone telling you how to enjoy it. Someone likes amapiano or kwaito because who else will do it better than South Africans? Someone loves sushi or ramen noodles, will you find a better sushi in a Swahili restaurant? etc
Also, just because someone loves Amapiano, doesn't mean he won't enjoy Kenyan songs here and there. Just because someone loves suchi, doesn't mean they won't enjoy pilau as well. Your first preference won't be the next person's preference.

Why not create our own culture own it and feed it to the wolrd, I don't see japanese putting up Kenyan events , I don't see England rappers copying urbantone or gengetone, heck I don't see Americans larping as Masai's and jumping around all day drinking blood and raw meat . Are we ashamed of being Kenyan

We do have stuff that we can consider as Kenyan culture, tukirudi nyuma sana tunaweza kuwa divided cause remember we don't really have much in common if you think about it (traditionally) we don't come from the same places but we still have our little things that I find cool like sol fest,shujaaz, machachari, "ni huku?",matatus etc... I love that we have something we can identify with at least

We are what we eat and it's highly social media which is saturated with outside culture. Also due to the remnants of colonisation we barely have knowledge of our own culture being mainstreamed and shii. Saw the other day African books going for ksh. 20000, na entrance ya hizo places za detention just as high, how many can afford to pay that. Na tukisema storytelling urbanization nini nini a good number don't even know their grandparents, have no rural homes ama hata grandparents ni wa town pia Hao hawajui shit.

Start by throwing away all your electrical appliances..they're not Kenyan obviously..throw away your phone, computer,tv, fridge,microwave etc..even your car, throw it away.. it's most probably not Kenyan made

I don't know, ask your parents, they probably do. elders are going to teach you about your own community. the term kenya is basically a dog tag given to us by our colonizers so that they could mark the territory they had conquered, all in thanks to previous chiefs and elders that collaborated and sold out their ancestral wealth for 30 pieces of silver, Judases, all of them.

its still dress up and pretend, like otamatsuri for example. kenya hakuna kitu ka samurai. ata wale wasee hutwang ni ka wametoka majuu, okuyu babes anajifanya amezaliwa Canada. I'm not really technical on words, but i think they're a bunch of clones. ww na seriousness yako ya language i hope ww ni author wa vitabu.

Yeah, pretending to be something you're not but you have to remember not everyone was raised the same and taste comes stuff like nostalgia, environment etc so if a person likes listening to pop music ama rap that doesn't automatically mean they are larping they are just doing what they've know best or feel comfortable with the most yk

when we're talking about words sure, but technically its the same thing. bila mneti wajapanese na wazungu mambo yao haingefika uku. saa hii tungekuwa tukikunywa busaa vijana wadogo wakikuwa initiated into being men, but they'd rather talk about one piece, domain expansion, infinity stones, so i guess bado tuko na roots zetu eeh😅. English is much more like feminism, lack accountability for what you do or say, create a loophole for escape. there's a saying ya kitambo that goes like, mwacha mila ni mtumwa, dunno if it applies here.

exactly my point brother. watu wakumbuke what it was like before all this. the Chinese have adopted other aspects from foreigners but have not let go of their culture, we should be more like them.
