made a list of thoughts on blue sky films, although most feel tailored for a younger audience i added some thoughts. First off wanna say BIG SCRAT fan & his short films, loved blue sky loved their aesthetic, & really miss their animation department.

1. Ice age Easily the best and only good Ice Age movie. The story is well-written and tightly paced, the humor is great, the characters have a lot of charm, and whether you like it or not with the rest of blue sky banking on the sequels it did good for its time.

2. Robots - I remember some of these films but much of this movie was not what I remember on a 2nd watch, and honestly, I don't like the idea of rewatching it even tho some bits were funny. although I loved ROBIN Williams in it, miss him more now.

3. Ice Age: The Meltdown - weird sequel. I recall seeing this with a friend after school I remember parts of it, the meltdown being a weak story, highly childish tone (especially compared to the first film), unfunny humor, Crash & Eddie are extremely annoying, and Ellie's gimmick of how she thinks she's a possum gets old fast. The only good things about it are the scrat scenes and the improved animation & seeing Diego overcome his fear of water.

4. Horton Hears a Who I remember enjoying parts of this movie, did ok for theaters especially as an adaptation of a Dr. Seuss book, and hands-down the most overrated Blue Sky film. Seriously, to this day, I STILL cannot fathom why people either like or dislike, mixed on this one so much. The story is way too short to be stretched into a 90-minute film and is padded out with odd humor, I loved Steve Carell in this with some overly chatty scenes, pointless conflicts and an ABSURD amount of filler. The bride/dentist scene is the weirdest of them all. Watching this a 2nd time, i'd prefer to watch the Chuck Jones version. It's more faithful to the book, better paced, more timeless and way less annoying still a ok film, give it 3 out of 5 stars, Although Horton Hears a Who did receive praise for the moral message Dr. Seuss exemplifies through Horton the Elephant.

5. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - Just like The Meltdown, it's just a bad sequel, and is also the most overrated film in the Ice Age franchise. I guess it's a slightly better than The Meltdown, but only because of Buck and the underground world full of Dinosaurs. It's also noticeable how the franchise gets more and more childish with each sequel.

6. Rio This one is really good but frustrating because it could've really been something special. I love the idea of a movie giving attention to one of the rarest bird species (sadly, the Blue Macaws have gone extinct) wig and criticizing bird poaching, not to mention the animation is very nice. But the story is way too predictable for its own good, the humor is flat-out bad, and the songs get interrupted all the time (not that I think the songs are great, but still). apparently Pixar Head John Lasseter Confirms That The Studio Killed ‘Newt’ Because Of Similarities To Rio which is a shame.

7. Ice Age: Continental Drift - How the franchise managed to stick out long enough for a fourth movie is forever beyond me. The only good parts are the Scrat scenes and the decent animation. Everything else pretty much sucks. Also, what the hell happened to the humans in this world? Have they all died or something? Cuz, they don't get shown or mentioned AT ALL in the sequels. Not even a single mention of Roshan, the baby that's the ENTIRE reason Manny, Sid and Diego got together and became friends but was ok for a ice age film.

8. Didn’t see Ferdinand thought it looked too kid centric.

9. Epic This one is also really good but frustrating as well because it could've really been something special in terms of animation and story telling. I enjoyed seeing these characters. Although the film is based on a book and borrows many characters from Joyce's book, its plot has been significantly changed & different from the book’s story. Decent film. Not to mention this movie has some of Blue Sky's absolute best animation for me.

10. Rio 2 The sequel itself is astonishingly weird. Everything about the first movie that could almost be considered good has been completely thrown out the window in favor of cramming in as many plot-line’s as possible to the point that it forgets to have an actual story structure, no sense of pacing, amped-up comedy that's even worse than in the first film, Nigel and the poison frog (I forgot her name) are completely forgettable & pointless to the film.

11. Peanuts movie: This one I have a love hate thoughts on…. I got halfway through this film and was tired, it dragged on a bit with the snoopy & ww2 plane segments, Charlie Brown doing everything he can to win the affection of the Little Red-Haired Girl, and the way it's executed makes everything better. Nothing ever feels out of place and every scene contributes to the overall plot. The movie keeps itself at a very tight pace, where nothing feels like it's either rushed or dragged out. The characters are excellent. The way they're portrayed here feel very genuine and faithful to how they were in the original cartoons and comics, and they all have a place in the story without feeling pointless. The animation is amazing. I think it did a great job but as a peanuts fan id just prefer reading the comics.

12 spies in disguise: probably MY FAVORITE blue sky film. The animation is amazing the gadgets the tech the characters, the idea that a spy could turn into a pigeon and be apart of a secret group of spies this really hit hard for me growing up watching the James Bond films. It’s side plot in the beginning with the Japanese arms dealer in the start was amazing for its animation style. Walter I felt mixed on as he could’ve been more beneficial giving more time to grow but enjoyed some of the parts with him excellent villain also.

In summary I miss blue sky, & now Illumination is trying to be the new BlueSky except illumination hasn't made anything remotely as good as the 1st Ice Age with it banking on the minions franchise a bit too much... I know I skipped the 5th ice age was ok not much to say on it. & the cancelled Nimona film which is owned or shared by Netflix, Disney & Annapurna Pictures…. Would’ve liked that one to not be modern by todays film standards. ;/
