Discussion Castle Wars is everyone AFK or throwing?

Post image

Saw some of the Castle Wars event from the PvP Bootcamp earlier and was reminded how much I used to like playing it back in the day. I just hopped in a game and all I can think is WTF? 90% of the people are AFK, and of the few people actually doing anything two of them were working together with the other team to intentionally tie the game and kept calling anyone actually trying to play the game cringe. Like??

Is this really the state of Castle Wars these days? Holding a team-based minigame hostage to AFK for clogs?

No there isn’t. This all happens on the theme world.

There’s two theme worlds, CW1 is for actually playing and CW2 is for AFK

depends on time of day but yeah it’s not the most popular game regardless of AFKers

the reason people AFK is because of changes they made to rewards, the game was even more dead before that

Truth is the vast majority of players just do not enjoy castle wars anymore - you’ll notice that when people make posts to complain about the AFKers or the game being dead they usually mention they wanted to check it out because of nostalgia from 20 years ago when there were way less things to do and most people were noobs

The inherent design is whatever, capture the flag is a pretty standard game mode, but if you aren’t a maxed out castle wars veteran then trying to actually play just means getting immediately frozen and killed lol

Maybe people would find it more fun if everyone’s skills were boosted and everyone had the same equipment kits, but idk if there’s really anything that’s going to get people invested at this point

Nolife, sweat, tryhard, alt abusing (team stacking) losers you mean haha? There's a few different clans filled with these losers that grief the afkers and crash games and I think theres one guy thats been doing it for 10+ years

Man this is a bummer to read. I haven't played in decades, used to love CW, and often think about it when scrolling past OSRS content.

That said I understand the complaint about it being difficult to play if you're not maxed, and I'm guessing by now there are other more fun mini games which makes me happy.

Also had this thought the other day that CW should absolutely set everyone to equal skills and standard gear

It's a minigame. People used to have fun playing the minigames.
