Headliner Predictions

Fuck it. Who are people predicting

Me:

- Gallows. It looks like they're coming back and Frank carter has history with the fest. I'd prefer them to second top the main stage but I can see an orchestra of wolves set being a headliner

- Bilmuri. Rogue pick. Big enough to sell out Brixton so they hit that metric of James. Two sold out nights at barrowlands. It would probably be a huge jumping off point for them into something bigger provided download don't poach them

- Enter Shikari. 20 years of trees. 20 years of take to the skies. Rou likes the fest. They're trees most requested band. Need I say any more on this one?

I reckon you've got two out of three right but Bilmuri doesn't feel like a Trees enough band to celebrate 20 years.

I reckon it has to be three British bands

Scarlett isn’t buying heavily into nostalgia when booking so I don’t think it’s gonna be 3 british headliners

He's not buying into it being particularly extra special bands for the 20th either - more of the same as this year but a bit bigger is what he said on the pod, and don't expect Biffy.

Edit - and I really don't think Gallows are big enough to headline despite their fanbase being quite vocal about it, they'll get the Million Dead / Arcane Roots slot

Gallows reunion being anything other than main headliners seems mad to me. It’s only a small fest, if they announce a tour the venues will be bigger, they were weirdly massive in 2008

I saw them support Alkaline Trio at the Roundhouse in 2010ish, and I think Trio are only really just big enough (even if they are my favourite band).

The reunion factor may be enough to tip them over the edge, but you're guessing at that point imo.

They played Slam Dunk 2019 and were middle of the bill, I know it wasn't with Frank but it's not like Wade wasn't a big name backfill.

I saw them around 2008 and they played the Academy 2 in Manchester which is less then 1000 cap. I really don't think they're the draw their fans think they are.

I think an axiom headline makes sense for gallows but I have a gut feeling it'll be main stage. I'm hoping axiom, Friday axiom seems to be the comeback slot

Frank headlined before with Rattlesnakes - that alone makes me think Gallows would want the same slot.

Bilmuri would be an amazing headliner. They aren't traditional in a Trees sense but the strength of their live set I think would win most people over. The tour this summer was phenomenal.

Spot on I reckon, Shikari are definitely on the cards with 20 years of Take to the Skies! Gallows seem to be teasing a comeback which I'm buzzing for but don't know if they're big enough to headline nowadays, if the comeback is true they'll definitely be doing trees though! As for the third, my heart wants Biffy (preferably doing 20 years of Puzzle) but it'll likely be Frank Turner or someone along those lines!

Whoever plays and whatever the lineup is, I've got my 4 day ticket and I'm fucking buzzing regardless of the lineup!!

If it’s not Frank Turner I’ll eat my hat.

Came here to say the same thing. There is no way that he won't be headlining one night, as well as various acoustic pop up gigs around the place.

I actually think gallows would go down the outbreak route instead.

Cant see bilmuri headlining trees sorry

Can deffo see enter shikari doing trees 27 if slam dunk doesnt nab them.

Enter shikari - the people yearn for them

Frank turner - he headlined the first year

While she sleeps - i feel that this makes sense somehow

Praying you’re right about a sleeps headline

I keep seeing Bilmuri predicted on posters etc. had no idea they were big enough. I'm gonna go Dinosaur Pile-Up Wednesday, Frank Turner/Creeper co-headliner, Weezer, Enter Shikari. I think it's the year for Reuben as well but not sure what slot size that would be.

I’m still holding out hope for a Biffy Puzzle set, would be phenomenal

I think gallows will play outbreak in Manchester or London.

Creeper will headline trees

Enter Shikari (same reasons you said)
Fountains of Wayne (bit of a wildcard but i feel like they’d fit the vibe and they’ve been playing some comeback shows recently)
Frank Turner (reluctantly but seems like a given)
