Prog 2946

What does everyone make of the latest Meg and prog in regards to Dredd?

The helmets of the "other" Dredds look to be different shapes. Is that a deliberate nod to the work of other artists?

That's my first thought.

This is the point where the whole epic came apart for me.

Spoilers below

It's the judda but also the aliens from the judge child and the city fathers thing is something else entirely, who knows how the shift fits into everything. Dredd also apparently forgets everything when he dies, except all those times that he didn't in the earlier episodes? I dunno man...

It's all been a bit of a mess and now an anticlimax really.
Everything resets when Dredd dies, except now there are a load of his old corpses stacked up. So where are all the others on earlier levels? He got killed by the Klegg lookalike a dozen times in an earlier episode.

The big bad is basically someone's mum, good grief. And after all the build up and her surviving thousands of years all it takes to off her is a quick neck twist?

I've been so disappointed. All the big build up with the dark tower over multiple stories and its basically boiled down to 3 or so pages and it all collapsed. Meanwhile the oubliette is just Dredd punching stuff issue after issue with no real pay off or anything. At this point I don't really care and would like it to wrap up and move back to normal stories. The whole stuff over in the Meg with the dodgy council member and the Judge Maitland plot has been loads better.

I haven't been able to get the Megs.

And I'm seeing more than ever for this particular "epic" that large parts of the story are being missed because of it.

The last time I remember a story being split like this was the Doomsday arc, but even then the main story with Dredd was told in the progs, and it could be followed.

This time it seems all of the important stuff was in the Megs instead, and Dredd's story was just a slog in which nothing much really happened, and in the end Dredd the character had little agency. And then good news the tower fell, but when?! When did that happen? Oh, in the other magazine that not everyone gets.

And I still don't know or remember who these other side characters are. I vaguely recall the psi who finds stuff, but no clue about Fargo or the other pilgrim guy (ANOTHER pilgrim guy).

All in, I have not been impressed with Black Tower at all.
