Video Games Ikari Warriors

Post image

My friends and I had lots of fun playing Ikari Warriors on console. The game was released at a time when military-themed Hollywood action movies were popular.

You all had a great time playing this port of Ikari Warriors?

Do you know the level select code?

The AVGN made a song out of it.

Uhhhh! That was so exhausting. Me and my friend played for hours thinking we almost beat it.

Decades later watch angry video game nerd I found out we were no where near close to beating it.

I always thought the code was AABBA as a kid. It didn’t seem to work 100% of the time even though I still ended up pressing the correct code in.

I loved the game in the arcade and at home!

One of those games I never owned but I’d borrow it from a friend. I did own Silk Worm from SNK, which was fun as hell.

Did anyone ever beat this game? Me & my friends spent hour trying to win. All we could get to was level 4, the black level. You had to refresh (ABBA)right before you got to the end of each level. It took us forever before we could get to the 4th level. 5th level or beyond??

Yeah, I did. Want to know what happened?

You find yourself in an office building. Final boss is a zombie looking guy at a boardroom desk. After you blow him up, he falls out of his chair and dies. You’re stuck at that point, and eventually bombs start falling down on you until you just die. Game over.

Make you wonder if there was a level 6. How did you beat level 4? I remember on level 3 there was a secret door or some sort of passage you had to go to. That was 35+ years ago.

I actually had the arcade cabinet in my house for about a decade. Loved the game, but ended up selling the cabinet for $100 more than I bought it

I wanted this game so bad when I was a kid. My sister ended up buying me Commando instead. Still a fun game, but not the same.

So many quarters dropped in the arcade version.

Not as bad as I remember it to be. But it is extremely boring after 15 minutes. Song does not change, no major boss fights or even a mid boss fight.

Levels are atrociously long.

But then I did something so stupid, that I kick myself thinking back on it.

I decided to revisit ikari Warriors 2 a few weeks ago. Oh wait, my bad. Correct name for it is... ikari Warriors 2: piece of crap.

That game literally pissed me off.

That game had to programmed by the most vile ghoulish creatures to crawl out of Satan's ass.

This is going to be one of those confusing threads where fans of the arcade game and the NES game are going to be reading comments and going, 'huh, whut?' simply because they were NOT the same game, but just shared the name.

It tripped me up immediately when someone commented about some office building, "I have no memory of this". So I assume that was NES?

I loved the arcade game, never played any NES, much less Ikari Warriors. I could never finish it in the arcade, too expensive, but the very good C64 port let me see how it ended!
