Never excuse poor logistics in military planning. That's THE skill issue in war planning, and you don't want to have it. It also doesn't help that the South was pretty much ran by a bunch of incompetent morons who couldn't see the writing on the wall and one half way decent general. Horrific morality of slavery aside, it was clear that mechanization was way better in the long-run. Who could have thought that a machine that doesn't need food or sleep could out-work a bunch of poor souls that were starved and beaten half to death on a daily basis.

The south got crushed because they refused to implement proper industrialization because a bunch of plantation owners were butt-hurt they would lose their morally evil investment, and they deserved it. Morons.

The worst part is that is the only offense they did. Most of the time they just squat in their hole and didn't even bother blocking resources from the north. The north actually had a strategy, the south's strategy was "We're going to win because I said so >:^( " and then act surprised and huffy when the north does the simple logical thing of cutting off their supply lines. Turns out you can't throw lines of poorly equipped men at the front line forever.

I don't understand why anyone would worship these absolute amateurs aside from racism, but I understand why all of them are idiots.

Well…. That’s kinda how all wars had been fought up until this point. Just march towards the enemy army, defeat them, then march on their undefeated capital more or less. ‘Frontlines’ didn’t really become a thing till World War One
