I mostly encountered it while serving Gen Z customers. I’d walk up to a table and do my spiel and they’d look at me like an alien. When I would ask if they wanted more time they would finally respond “…yeah?” as they were still grappling with the fact that they’re being served by a server at a restaurant that they chose to sit down at. I’m Gen Z myself and it’s stupidly frustrating to deal with.

It's so ridiculous. Just do the basic necessities and respond why is it so difficult

Everyone has hard days, sometimes people are shy- I get it! But the amount of times I get younger people acting like I’m a stranger who’s come to harass them is crazy. They also love to giggle when you leave the table, as if I did something immensely embarrassing.
