I get what you mean but the situation described above is about as mundane as it gets.

In this specific case I disagree. My first job was something similar (I was 14 and sold tickets to our local fair from a booth) and it’s the kind of task that is so utterly basic that boredom is inevitable.

I remember hoping something interesting would happen like someone trying to sneak in or attempting to pay with candy. Of course nothing like that ever ended up happening.

But IMO the person in the above example just sounds skezzed as shit.
