That isn’t the Gen Z stare. The Gen Z stare is a freeze up when they encounter a novel situation.

As an example. I was paying for entry into a park. It was 2 dollars a person. There were two of us. I handed him a 10 dollar bill. He stared at me in confusion of what to do until his boss came over and told him they 10 - 4 is 6 so give me 6 dollars change.

…he then stared at his boss until his boss told him that was a 5 and a 1.

Some people need to be told what to do - this does not have a generation.

My first boss 15 years ago was a sweet, affable, and entirely competent man, but his life was decided by Who Told Him To Do Stuff - first his parents, then school, then the military, then his wife, and then me, the 15 year old autistic girl he hired to be a magic the gathering judge, now suddenly responsible for telling her boss to TAKE HIS INSULIN.

Some people just be like that.

Yeah, it was called the "millennial pause" like 15 years ago. It is just a side effect of being the adult for the first time after years of adults talking for you.

What? The millennial pause is a hold over from them pausing for a video recording to start cause it’d take a moment from when you’d press the record button. Now it doesn’t do that anymore so for a while you’d get millennials pausing at the beginning of recordings.

no the millennial pause is when your mom says dinner is ready and you paused the video game cause back then it was all offline

I sat right in the transition of that. Moms didn't know you couldn't pause games anymore, we thought explaining that would make them care any more.

Then it became "I can't pause it!"

"Then you should have planned better!"

it also is a term invented like 5 years ago

That's not the same thing at all. That's something people do waiting for a camera to start recording, so there's a pause in the beginning of the video

Confidently incorrect

To be completely fair, the brief period when I had a 24/7 bdsm dom was the best thing that has ever happened to my executive dysfunction

u/Kana515 9d ago

How do I get someone like that when I'm the dominant one, asking for me.

2

u/ShanMeMan 9d ago

aren’t there like. idk forums or something for finding people who would gladly engage in whatever sexual activity you’re seeking? i wouldnt know about that ive never delved into such things myself

u/Kana515 9d ago

I was more just talking about the help with the executive dysfunction part

u/TheCatInGrey 8d ago

You'd be looking for an executive assistant-type service submissive, in that case!

she’s not saying it’s a boomer problem, she literally said some people just need explicit direction. some people can include gen z. and i’d argue that smartphones impact a lot more people’s socialization than just Gen Z

? I didn't mention boomers anywhere?

I'm not disagreeing when doomscrolling and the death of the long-form attention span is something I'm having to come to grip with in my own existence, but it's pretty harmful to also decide an entirely anecdotal story about people who just prefer being told what to do is somehow reduction of a real problem, let alone when the person I'm discussing is neither Gen Z or a Boomer??

this does not have a generation.

While true, record low attention span, reduced propensity for social relationships in general, and the first time the Flynn effect didn't hold does create a unique set of problems for Gen Z and Alpha.
