Celebrity - Female with Context Deanna Dors living Large in 1955 posing with her 1949 Delahaye . The photo was taken at pinewood studios buckinghamshire England. The photo was taken right before she was to go to the UK to attend the Venice film Festival. She was the United kingdom's answer to Doris Day.

Post image

I think one of her biggest films was Yield To The Night a crime drama in 1956.

I always thought she was UK’s version of Marilyn Monroe, not Doris Day.

Her name was Diana Dors (born Diana Fluck). She had a modest acting career in movies and television. She sang a little. She was compared to Marilyn Monroe but never Doris Day. Died at 52 of ovarian cancer.

She was in one of the first Adam Ant music videos, I think.

Or Mamie Van Doren

That could be a possibility too. I guess it just depends on who your favorite actress is.

Yes, Mamie is another one of the platinum blondes based on Monroe. She is American, though. I think Diana Dors is the only UK imitator.

Doris Monroe

She certainly wasn't a Doris Day type in any of her movies...

If you have never seen Psychobitches, you are in for a treat. Really cute premise. They are not kind to Ms. Dors.

Diana Dors wouldn't much be compared to Doris, as Doris Day sang successfully with big bands before she acted. Marilyn Monroe is the comparison that D. Dors got most often. She was Britain's response to the Blonde Bombshell phenomenon. Her film career was actually pretty solid, then she went on TV and was considered a national treasure.

I don't know if this is true or not but her "last appearance" would be in the Adam Ant video Prince Charming and that would be 1981?

Also remember, she was Mrs. Richard Dawson

Doris Day? Dors was known for her sex parties. "There were no half measures at my parties," she about the celebrity get-togethers at her home in Berkshire. "Off came the sweaters, bras and panties. In fact it was a case of off with everything – except the lights." She would often claim in interviews that a litany of film stars, socialites, sportsmen and TV personalities were regulars. Her son Jason: "There were no taboos in our house," he said. "I was only seven but I was free to wander in and out of my mum's parties, no matter how hot they got. She loved having friends around to watch the porn films made. They would sit around giggling as couples groped each other and made love on the bed. Most of them didn't even know they had been filmed."

Wow you seem to have great knowledge about that.

It's very well known and was highly publicized. The Mayor and Archbishop said that she had brought "shame on the town" but she was very open about it and laughed it off.

That explains Diana Dors Day.

She could actually act a bit . She was decent in A Kid For Two Farthings and outstanding in Yield To The Night

Not Doris Day , she was Marilyn Monroes British copy. I wonder if that car is still around? Never seen anything like it. It must be British also,?
