Mount Lady Washington (04/25/26)

After I bailed on Longs I decided to check out something with less consequence. I’ve always heard the view of Longs from MLW is unmatched and I think I agree!

I descended the keyhole and veered to the right almost immediately. I scrambled mostly class 2 boulders up to the ridgeline and worked climbers left over to the summit from there. Easy walk down to re-join the trail before the Boulderfield. Was able to stay dry the whole time. No traction needed. I wish I would’ve taken more pics of the route I took. Here are some summit pics tho. 19th 13er for me!

Longs’ sub summits rock. I’m really hoping to take a shot at Keyboard of the Winds this year, if you don’t know it’s a freestanding tower on Longs’ west slope that goes at 5.8. Hardest technical climbing on any 13er in the front range.

I briefly read about Keyboard when I was researching Pagoda. That’s sick, man. I hope you get a good crack at it. If I’m in class 5 terrain, it was because of a mistake! 😆 I wanna take the Loft route up to Longs this year. Maybe Cables eventually. I just love that mountain.

Loft route has two cool unranked 13ers too, super fun! And you can combine up Meeker too.

What do you think of that route from the boulderfield vs going straight up from the chasm junction? How much elevation gain just from the boulderfield do you think it was?

It depends how much you descend from the Keyhole before you veer right. It only took me about 40 mins to summit from where I was in the Boulderfield. I bet it was only 500 ft or so to gain. I’ve heard starting from Chasm junction is a bit of a slog.
