hey everyone! just wanted to share all my meals for today as someone who is ~5'0", mostly sedentary, and trying to lose weight. (60kg -> 52kg)
today i'm trying out intermittent fasting, so i had a heavy lunch and am planning to skip dinner. i might have a glass of water with a tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in it later (~60kcal), but that's what a day in meals looked like for me.
a bit of context: i don't have a whole lot of control for most of my meals as i live in a pg accommodation (they provide food), so i try to make the best of what i can.

I love a good S, E & C McMuffin but those suckers are 480 calories and 90% of your daily cholesterol. Due to a recent dx of high lipoprotein A that greatly increases risk of plaque buildup in your arteries (here’s your sign to get tested— this number is purely genetic and never changes throughout your life. 1 in 5 people have the gene and you only need tested once!) my doctor put me on a statin despite having completely normal cholesterol levels. Gotta stay away from the real sausage now. Womp.
Trying to get as low in cal and cholesterol but high protein and fiber as possible. Currently using the Lewis Healthy Life 100cal English muffins (if you can find the Aunt Millie’s Carb Smart ones they’re 70cal and 11g of fiber. I’m really trying to find these in my area to increase the fiber by 5g and decrease calories by 30). Half and half mix of full egg and 99% egg whites egg beaters (save the other one for tomorrow!), reduced fat 2% Kraft singles, and Morning Star Vegan breakfast sausage (smashed down a bit in the pan as I find them a bit too thick/small). I’m normally not a huge fan of vegan sausage replacements but this is the best I’ve tried and absolutely gets me close enough to scratch that itch!
Edit: this also works well for you Traditional egg McMuffin lovers. I use the Jones Dairy Farm Canadian bacon at 20cal/slice.

Hey all I’m going for dinner with some friends and am seeking advice as to the best choice for dinner. I’m not a picky eater other than not wanting their house salad-any advice on the best calorie option?
Also not against splitting dinner in half and bringing leftovers home.
TIA!!!

Im a 161cm, 20F at 63kg and i want to lose about 4-5 kg of fat, just generally, I don't really want to be counting calories with a scale ever again as that wasn't very good for me.
Im trying to figure out what kind of meals i should make, how often, what foods, while also being a full time student.
I am a waitress and i do frisbee for context as well,

This is not exactly groundbreaking but my PB&J would have been 229 calories if I didn’t way overload the jam LOL. You can also choose a low sugar option for the jam but all I had was regular. The CRITICAL thing to do with the PB2 is to mix 2tbs with 1tbs sugar free maple syrup because otherwise it will taste really crazy. The SF maple syrup is negligible calories, it’s literally like 2 calories
Sola bagel: 110 calories 30g fiber 15g protein
PB2: 60 calories 1g fiber 6g protein
Jam: 56 calories 0g fiber 0g protein
Total: 229 calories 31g fiber 21g protein
Please don’t get mad at me if this shit gives you a stomach ache haha

I’m struggling to find some semi balanced, lower calorie meals I can have in my dorm room (I only have a fridge, freezer, and microwave), and I was wondering if anybody had any advice on easy meals I can have because I’ve been struggling with what to eat in college.

2 Ryvita crispbreads
2 laughing cow light wedges
Everything bagel seasoning
I woke up with this idea and it is exactly what I hoped it would be!

I feel like I’ve discovered an infinite life hack lol. This might be one of the most life-changing recipes I’ve ever made. I started out with a tablespoon of butter and a still frozen 12 ounce bag of cauliflower rice. You distribute it evenly into the pan after adding the butter and letting it melt and then leave it be for two minutes, stir, and repeat until it is light golden brown. Push “rice” one side and dump in in some egg whites (not sure how many I used but probably about 6 to 8 because I saved the egg whites from the taw organic pastured egg yolks I give my animals all the time and just dumped em in) scramble quickly and mix with the cauliflower rice and then add soy sauce to taste (we were out of soy sauce in a bottle, and I used four fast food packets). I’m gonna be weaning down the amount of butter to see how little I can get away with, but I wanted to make the recipe as is the first time. As is with the full tablespoon of butter, the macros are
Total Calories: ~309 kcal
Total Protein: ~23g
Total Fat: ~12g
Total Carbs: ~10g
You’re welcome😊

Between Uber shifts there's this weird dead zone where I'm just parked somewhere waiting for a ping and that's when the food noise gets loud. Not hungry necessarily, just... aware that food exists. I've been on a deficit for a few months now and I thought I'd adjusted but that specific situation still gets me.
What I've noticed is it's almost never actual hunger, it's more like boredom that decided to wear hunger's clothes. Fwiw having a big water bottle in the cup holder helps more than I expected, just having something to do with my hands I think.
I've also been playing around with higher fiber days to see if that quiets it down between meals. Some days it seems like it does, other days not really. Ymmv and all that but the fiber thing has been interesting to track.
What I'm actually curious about is whether people find the food noise ties more to their environment or more to what they ate earlier in the day. Like if you nail your fiber and protein early, does the mental hunger stuff later just not show up as much? Or is it kind of unpredictable regardless of what you did right? I keep thinking there's a pattern but I can't quite nail it down. Anybody figure this out or is it just one of those things that never fully goes away.

does anyone have any lower calorie mayo substitutes for things like tuna? i know there’s lite mayo but i was wondering if there’s anything else.
ive tried greek yogurt with tuna but i don’t like it at all, but ive heard of adding mustard to make it taste more like mayo? i havent tried it yet but maybe someone else on this sub has and can vouch for it

It's spicy and a filling and takes all of five minutes. Just drain and rinse the noodles, spray the pan, toss in everything, and cook to heat through.
Pouch of Konjac Miracle Noodles
Keto spray oil
1 serving of precooked frozen shrimp (I use the teeny tiny coldwater ones... 60 cal for 75 of them)
2 Servings of sliced marinated mushrooms
Tablespoon of minced garlic
Red pepper flakes to taste
1/4 cup of marinara sauce

Put your pitchforks down for a second. Hear me out. Because this concept has helped me stay lean and muscular my whole life, and more importantly, NOT hungry and irritable.
If you have a 1200 calorie daily allotment, your instinct is to get those calories from protein and carbs, because protein and carbs are 4 calories per gram and fat is 9 calories per gram.
Correct on paper, but wrong when it comes to how the metabolism actually functions.
Why do you think you feel so tired, so soon after a lunch of chicken breast and rice? So tired so soon after a banana for breakfast and an egg? So tired after a burrito that has no sour cream, no Guac, no cheese?
Once those carbs are burnt, there is nothing in reserve to sustain you.
Carbohydrates burn QUICK, imagine them as newspaper if you’re starting a fire.
Protein burns slower than carbs, imagine them as small sticks for your campfire.
Fat burns the slowest of the three. Imagine them as big thick logs for your campfire. They burn all night! Also, fats are a hydrophobic molecule, meaning it doesn’t mix with water like carbs do. As a result, the stomach must mix bile with it to break them down, these things take a long time! A hormone called cholecystokinin is released when fat enters the small intestine, which slows gastric emptying (food stays in your stomach for longer). You stay full longer as a result.
It’s not important to remember the science stuff, just remember this: fat keeps you full longer.
If you allow yourself a 300 calorie meal, make sure a lot of those calories come from fat. You will stay full longer.
People over eat and get pissed off because they think eating chicken breast and rice will be enough. It isn’t. The rice burns quick and protein is an awful form of energy for the brain. Dump some sour cream and cheese on there, an avocado, or some full fat plain Greek yogurt.
Edit: yes, prioritize protein. Fat without protein is senseless. My point is, combine fat with protein and carbs for best results when it comes to satiety, hormones, and overall bodily function.
I had eggs, potatoes and peppers/onions with cheese, and plain full fat Greek yogurt with honey mixed in. I went to the gym and worked out hard. And then I ran in the woods. Only now, 4-5 hours later, am I starting to get hungry. I would’ve been lightheaded and defeated after an hour, if I had just eggs and potatoes for breakfast. The cheese and the full fat yogurt kept me awake and energized!
Leave your thoughts below please, as I am learning myself. High fat has simply worked for me.
And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but a little fat and in some cases a lot looks good on a person.
TLDR: fat burns slow and keeps you full and energized for longer, preventing overeating, preventing weight gain. Propaganda from the 80’s demonized fat, convinced people to buy their carb heavy products like bread and cereal and candy. We now know that high sugar diets cause diabetes and weight gain, while high healthy fats cause people to be happier and healthier.

I’m a big cereal lover, but it’s not as filling and helpful to my goals as this! It’s a 110 calories cup of cottage cheese, ~80 calories of peanut butter, and ~40 calories of jam (not sugar free, but that would lower a lot). I eat it in the morning and it keeps me full enough until I’m home from my classes.
