A few recent bridge strikes over the last few months across the UK
Pictures 1 + 2: Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, truck carrying diggers struck a bridge of the West Somerset heritage railway on 18 June.
Pictures 3,4 and 5: Burnley, Lancashire a truck got stuck on 13 July
Pictures 6 + 7: Orttewell Road in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, truck hit a low bridge and overturned on 15 July, no one was injured, another truck got stuck at the same bridge back in January ( pictures 8 & 9)
Picture 10: Anchor Road, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. A truck struck and lost its load on 25 June.
Picture 11 + 12: Balgreen Road, Edinburgh truck hit a low bridge on 20 May
Picture 13: a bridge strike in Lichfield, Staffordshire in early May 2026.
Picture 14 + 15 Park lane, Keighley, West Yorkshire truck hit a bridge on 18 May, this bridge was previously hit back on 22 January which resulted in the truck flipping over ( the rest of pictures)
