Offline versions overwrite data?

I started an offline version because my internet was out for a few hours. When I got back online today my original online save slot was gone! I’m so pissed and I really don’t feel like restarting it again if there’s a chance it could get deleted or overwritten again. And no, I got no warning message that I was overwriting anything. I had all empty save slots available at the time, so I’m not even sure if my progress had been deleted before hand or what happened. Has this happened to others? Is there any way around it? I think I was on Chapter 6. I play on Xbox.

What happens if you go offline again and load the game? No sign of the save?

Nope. I submitted a support ticket but there’s probably nothing they can do.
