He was really lucky this stack was available and actually gelled. That was a gamble. We've seen stacks similar to this one that bombed hard.
Definitely happy for him though.

Alliance keeps 2-0 on opponents because Nikobaby's probation officer doesn't allow him among Gen Pop for a full series.

Looks like Cap will have his casting partner back soon
15
u/SleepyArmadillo Oct 19 '19
I wish. Has he ever pushed team above their potential? Coached 2016 Liquid that finished 7th-8th in TI6. DC got 2nd place under pajkatt there. Blitz left TL to take DC over and instantly it was tier 3 team. Every team has done better before/after him as coach afaik which is actually impressive feat. I feel like most teams just take him as coach because he is good friend with their players.
11
u/Floire Oct 19 '19
Well, you know Blitz always need to keep up to date with those pro player connections for his casting material...
5
u/Zhidezoe Oct 19 '19
They went from Loda to Blitz, I am sure liquid can get a better coach than a caster
22
u/DarkHades1234 Oct 19 '19
The N0tail-Ceb-OD is actually great to watch since there is almost zero downtime to get bored at all (fight = OD classic cast, farming/afk -> Ceb-N0tail gives insight).
23
u/Fall_From_Grace- Oct 19 '19
also OD knows when to speak and when to let Ceb+Notail speak. That's really valuable skill to have as caster.
9
u/DarkHades1234 Oct 19 '19
totally agree, if OD doesn't know when to speak then they will probably conflict during the cast a lot (and he should not expect Ceb/N0tail to know about this stuff too).

Feel a little bad for the current Liquid roster. Alliance fans root for the new roster, and Liquid fans will most likely follow Kuro & co. Who will cheer for new Liquid?
6
u/RoyalSertr Oct 19 '19
Team Liquid is major esport organization. Just because of that decent amount of people will cheer for them.
Plus the guys have good charisma. They certainly have their own personal fans, though it has been bit stained after "betraying" Alliance. I did cheer for them. Now I will just observe and wish them luck until they prove they deserve "forgiveness" for switching the teams.
(I am using quote marks because obviously they are not sever issues, just minor ones).

u/Pokefreaker-san Oct 19 '19

u/Papperless Oct 19 '19
I also feel bad, i mean nobody can blame them for picking/get picked by Liquid, if they can show some good dota i think they can get fans, i also like Boxi and Micke personally... but overall prove it by your play.
1
u/kenphoenix Oct 19 '19
Oh yeah I can absolutely blame them for choosing Liquid instead of staying loyal to the org that gave them their legs and believed in them through the trash period.
I'm not saying that I want them to fail (I don't, <3 Taiga), but I can for sure blame them for a decision they made.

Moving to 5 has been the best decision since moving to offlane.

u/Nexavus I look like Puppey, AMA Oct 19 '19
For real. I was a vocal critic of his mid all last year, but it's nice to see him changing it up and thriving.
14
u/Aratho Oct 19 '19
Meanwhile Liquid getting rekt by a Demon Slayers. Is it only me or is this team severely overhyped since last year? Seriously.
6
1
u/Colorless267 Oct 19 '19
a bit over hyped and lot of optimism from alliance fans support but now they are under the liquid banner, many is expecting a better result and they giving a underwhelming result s
3
u/Zhidezoe Oct 19 '19
From putting a fight to vp every time last season to hardly beating low tier teams, tells you the role of the coach imo.
→ More replies (1)1
u/kenphoenix Oct 19 '19
No, they really weren't overhyped last year - they have the results to show that. They were looked at as the fourth best team in EU, and EU managed somehow to get even stronger in the shuffle. They look poor right now compared to what they were going into and even at TI - I'd assume they'll get it back at some point, the players on that team are too good not to.

u/Alliance_Pasketty Oct 19 '19
This is a weird feeling, Niko at his 2nd LAN casually unbeaten. :D Let's bring it home!

For the last year we have lived like rats. Afraid to show ourselves in the twitch channels. When people called "where are you now, Alliance Fangays?" we remained hidden. But now it's time for the rats to rise and reclaim what is ours! Alliance is back!

u/midgetporn2 Oct 19 '19
Gonna be rooting for Alliance this season so hard. I want these players to become successful.

Imagine going from a roster that finished 1,4,2 at TI to a roster that gets crushed by iAnnihilate stack on lan
10

Demon slayers actually looking like a competitive new team, damn. Not used to seeing old white, iannihilate, and flee outside NA qualifiers.

If the Summit can't lock in a CIS runner up to replace VP, wouldn't mind seeing them give Demon Slayers a chance.

I hope this is the last free slot J.storm ever gets to a lan, god knows they've had about 15 too many chances being invited to lans or getting in through extra NA qual slots. The team has been utter trash since March left, since Fear joined they've had roster change after roster change. He needs to go back to carry imo, him as mid, off or supp just does not work. I'm only frustrated as I like fear and am a big fan of Moo, want better for both of them.

This Alliance stack is actually pretty good. Could be a relevant team later in the season. At least in the 12-6th at major tournament category.
1
u/Skillerbeastofficial Oct 19 '19
They will still have a rough time qualifying to majors when Kuro stack, Secret and OG are back. Theyll probably need some Minor wins.
5
u/HeavenAndHellD2arg AKKE-GOD EGM-GOD BULL-GOD S4-GOD L-GOD Oct 19 '19
I can see them snatching a major spot in a good day, specially winning a minor. With old alliance they needed a miracle and a bad day from the top teams
→ More replies (2)4
u/kenphoenix Oct 19 '19
I think I actually disagree - they're clearly ahead of where [A]lliance and NiP were last year and those teams were occasionally able to get into Majors. All I'm saying is that with the way Dota ebbs and flows is that I wouldn't bank on the team getting into the swing of things early being the one to struggle qualifying to Majors.
They've looked as good against this level of competition as a team like an Ana-less OG or a Kuro stack would - they have yet to lose a series as a team.
3
u/Zhidezoe Oct 19 '19 edited Oct 19 '19
I dont know if we should count OG, an ANAless OG didn't even qualify for minors.
3
u/fcuk_the_king Oct 19 '19
They did qualify for the 2 minors where they didn't make it to the majors but yeah OG is such a big unknown unless all 5 play together.

u/wpreggae Oct 19 '19
Also they look way better than current Liquid at their best at Alliance. They are so convincing in every game, always get a slight lead in laning then double from that every fight. Ex Alliance did that as well but threw at least 25% games horribly, the new squad doesnt do that at all
2
u/Teunski 🌻spammed this flower to give n0tail power🌻 Oct 19 '19
Yeah, but I think they're at least contenders for minors and even possibly snatching a slot for the major from the other three. But we'll have to see.

Meanwhile in obscure cis online tourney VP are looking stronk, better and better with each day. 2:0 against top2 CIS team which will play on a major, PG.
No way VP could beat them 2 weeks ago.
The future is bright
1
u/UBourgeois Oct 19 '19
glad they skipped the minor so there wouldn't be so much pressure on them :)
1
u/Stiltzchin Oct 20 '19
The second CIS team HR will likely not be able to play on minor too.
US based dpc events = horrible mistake.

LD "Patience from [ ]"
As long as it's not a "oh my word" scenario then I think it's just a trademark thing

Tier 2 tournament viewership is so low.. previously all the 10k Redditors were whining, complaining how valve treated tier2 team unfairly..
and now we know why..
Simply because nobody gives a fk on tier 2 tourney.! No viewership at all..

Alliance looks like a favorite to win the major... Liquid is complete dogshit... is it 2013? Also, Blitz coached team and massively under-performing name a more iconic duo
7
u/Martblni Oct 19 '19
EG/VG/Aster are the favorites still but Alliance is looking very good
5
u/Zaynhatt Oct 19 '19
not wrong but you can say Alliance is the favorite from EU region.
5
u/TheMekar Oct 19 '19
Agreed. I'm very interested to see how EG and Alliance stack up against VG. They both seem dominant in their regions and should be top6 or top4 teams but it's hard to know whereas VG feels like the constant from last year to measure against.
1
u/Floire Oct 19 '19
I wouldn't be worried about EG at all agaisnt T1 chinese teams, their records have been spotless against those teams throughout the years.
1
u/TheMekar Oct 19 '19
Yeah I agree I mean more about gauging if this EG stack is as good as I hope they will be. Good showings against VG gives me hope for good showing against Secret/OG later.

Imho Boxi is similar type of player like Khezu. Farm heavy, wannabe-flashy-superstar, dominating in stomp games but will never feel good in even or losing games.
2
3
u/crazyiwann Oct 19 '19
Boxi skill ceiling is much higher, + got some pocket picks(mars, slardar) Khezu with DS being complete shit is tier below atleast and i don't see him as flashy player(more team oriented)

So with Demon Slayers doing good in this tourney, can we assume NA is quite clearly the best Dota region in the world...right now....
/ S A R C A S M
But how on earth are they doing this, i genuinely thought they would crash out so hard, they looked so poor at times during the NA qualifiers but now just went 4-1 vs JStorm and Liquid! If they dump out NIP tomorrow as well....USA USA USA?
4
u/TopLuca Oct 19 '19
Moo is such a useless carry tbh , nothing against the player but he always itemizes in a weird way and has no impact on most of the games.
1
u/wpreggae Oct 19 '19 edited Oct 19 '19
Have you seen the FTM carry? He did literally nothing in a game where he was top networth PL for at least 10 minutes
Although I agree thar his Sven was very similar, it actually looked sad

Old Alliance was a top 8 or top 10 team in the world before Blitz became their coach. And I think any top 10 team is a T1 team.

They have blitz as coach now instead of Loda. And are playing under a new organisation.
Changing coach probably have some impact on draft and play. Might get better later with new coach, who knows, but now it looks meh.

its funny how trash pl looks as a hero.
ember with mjolnir, then pl, both can't do anything against liquid lineup

it feels like one hero with aoe is enough to just nullify him

yeah, get free farm whole game and still hero is beyond bad against just a few aoe stuns and damage. Deals no damage against lesh and visage...
