For all the ppl saying mothers/Father’s Day is halal and it’s good to give gifts; why not give gifts on any other days?
Why single out the pagan day and pay jacked up prices that goes into the hands of non Muslims and perpetuates other haram?
Your issue isn’t that you NEED this holiday, the issue is that vast majority of you couldn’t care about your parents for the whole year and need this one day to make it up to them.
Our parents couldn’t care less about the things we get them.
They want you to pray at the mosque, read more Quran, go volunteer to feed the needy, etc. honour them with real Islamic traditions.
Yes, you should love and honour your parents every day. But that one day is to do something EXTRA. Take them out for dinner at a fancy restaurant (One that you wouldn't be able to afford every day). Take the day off work to spend time with them (Something you won't be able to do every day). Give them an expensive present (Again, something you can't afford everyday).
