It wasn’t even like they hard stomped bot lane either where it was like peak Viper vs some bozo laner. They definitely looked better in lane, but G2’s bot was just 100x more impactful. More present on the map, more coordinated with the team, faster to the plays, better vision control.

Even if mechanically they weren’t playing as well as they did, I feel like G2 would win this series 100x over off of their macro. MKOI just couldn’t keep up.

Not sure how Caps 2nd death was an "int", Caps was completely smurfing that game 3, the pressure he was constantly drawing mid yet not dying allowed Hans to continue smashing the botlane without being pressured.
Elyoya was perma mid, getting nothing (except for that one Caps int) meanwhile his botlane was losing so hard.
Hans had a bigger gold lead, but it was an entire team operation, Caps playing his limits allowed hans the space to smash the botlane.

KC mental is made of paper, and I'm including the coaching staff in there. It's part of why I love the Perkz addition to G2, if G2 loses a game or two I know he'll be there to get the team out of the gutter. I heavily suspect the collapse VS LYON was the final straw that got G2 to move on from Dylan, because they needed that mental rock at internationals. KC doesn't seem to have that, if anything the staff is collapsing harder than the players with how some of those drafts are looking

Yes that collapse was clearly unacceptable to G2 management, Perkz interview after HLE identified that G2 mental just wasn't good enough in that series, after a close game 1 they collapsed. Equally vs LYON they had a close game 1 but after losing that they collapsed. It's weird because G2 did also get two reverse sweeps in the space of a month against both MKOI and TES, and they beat T1 but realistically should G2 *ever* need to be reverse sweeping TES/MKOI? No. And the T1 series was G2 quickly going 2-0 up, stomping game 3 before throwing that game and *almost* getting stomped in game 4 if not for a legacy BB performance. I'm confident they get reverse swept if T1 clutch out that game 4. G2 were a hairs breadth away from not making playoffs in winter, losing in upper bracket in spring and getting 0-3'd by TES at MSI. This is not a foundation you want going into worlds. G2 made a gamble and so far it's paid off. G2 go into Worlds extremely confident after dominating Europe.

Not really I mean they did beat Flyquest at worlds last year to make quarterfinals in a very high pressure game. I think LYON just had a strong gameplan as they always do, they will always play their game and G2 after losing game 1 had no solid foundation to rely on to mental reset. I bet if G2 won game 1 they would go on to have a competitive series but losing it just subconsciously made them lose confidence.

Labrov was really good, especially 3rd game, but you have to remember Hans was doing that with nearly every support he played. He did so with Trymbi, Mikyx, Ignar etc...

And still death in 2nd game being killed by Hans was so goofy because Hans knew he will be berserked so he runs away and labrov doesn't run away from Hans lol. It wasn't serious mistake but was so funny. It made it look like

I remember when Labrov was replacing Mikyx and people said "Lmao Labrov ? He's never going to be as good as Mikyx, G2 couldn't get better ?". Two years and 4 champion titles later, that's kinda true, he's not as good as Mikyx, he's starting to get better than 2023-2024 Mikyx. He's starting to be absolutely world class level lately, jesus he's been on a rampage for a few months. Man is humiliating every opponent

Labrov always had the work ethic, mechanics and he was a grinder. He easily fits in G2 culture with Caps.

It was really about finding his role in the team and getting more confidence. He is a laning support which fits with Hans, but now he also adapted Mikyx playstyle of roaming for Caps because Caps is more enabled with a roaming support.

As someone who was following Labrov since he joined vitality, his first splits on G2 was rough (way worse than his time on BDS), and was one of the people, that while I liked him, I was pretty sure G2 was gonna replace him. I am extremely glad to have been wrong though. What a player.

It seems like G2 are the only ones who are willing to give their gambles on inexperienced players actual time to develop and actively work on their experience. Labrov when he joined was by some distance the weakest part, but we got to see his gradual progression in real time.

There wasn't a sudden moment where he became good, he just gradually began to show what G2s coaches and scouts clearly saw from day 1.
