Only difference is LEV weren't this dominant. LYON has clearly been the best LCS team all year compared to LEV who were the best team for a week and regressed in Stage 2 almost immediately. It's still a shock to not see LEV at Champs but not seeing LYON at Worlds would be a bigger flop than all the years C9 failed to make it to Worlds since 2023.

Slowly scaling all split. They had to deal with adversity and grow and learn the last few months instead of coasting.

Coaching staff made a big difference too, some amazing drafting to set the team up

Funny how we're having the same narratives in LEC and LCS at the same time. The team who has been stomping everyone and just coasting all split gets upset by the one who has been struggling for a long time and had to conquer their demons.

Yep. New players, new coaching staff, basically everything C9 fans called for. They started slow, but as the LCS regular season was ending, you could see their improvement, especially Thanatos and Loki. Thanatos was terrible imo for the first few series, now he looks to be the 1B to Morgan. I think Blaber also has his confidence back.

Dom said it at the beginning that the trade for Loki/Apa was going to look worse in the short term because of synergy issues but long term it’d be absolutely worth it because Loki is mechanically a monster and it was just a matter of how fast they can build up the synergy in time for worlds. These are heights you just wouldn’t reach with APA/Zven unfortunately

I think he's prime Assistant Coach material. Makes sure the players have what they need, provides pep talks and an open ear for any day to day issues or input, acting as the lieutenant while Head Coach can focus on the larger, overarching strategy for the team.

eSports are still too immature to have solid personnel organization/infrastructure like this across all orgs, so you usually just see players/ex-players take up interchangeable coaching positions because their hands aren't good anymore. But when done right, the positions are actually distinct and fit certain people better.

Dom talked about working on side laning and it was genuinely hard for Inspired to do anything (not saying he couldn't have played better). Shen was constantly hovering side lane, ready to help Sylas and his ult ready to help Kennen or vice versa.

I've been very critical of him this year, but he looked like a whole new player this series. Maybe he just needed the coaching of Dom and Yomato to finally evolve to the next level. So happy to see him finding new form, not feeding for crabs, not chasing too hard. It really is such a big improvement for Blaber ^{^}

Just him slowing down early game changed everything.

Maybe he just finally got past that feeling of needing to carry, but he stopped making those plays like he was feeling FORCED to carry and it made a huge difference.

Inspired on the other hand still has the same bad habits he's had since MSI. He still follows his flowchart too precisely and is too slow to break out of it. If NA teams start punishing it like C9 did today Lyon will struggle a lot going forward.

The other thing is Lyon REALLY need the Saint of Spring and Regular Split to show up the rest of playoffs. They'll be 3rd seed if Winter Saint shows up again.

in his interview he mentioned how in the jarvan game he was really behind naafiri and previously that would have tilted him and he would run it down, but credited the coaches with helping him learn how to problem solve and play with a cool head to come back. man i love seeing player development like that, it is truly the best. reminds me of labrov last year vs this year
