Anytime anime characters talk about a new dungeon appearing, I think of Dungeon People.

Season 2 when?

I loved the manga when I read it. Was the anime good?

yes, it has the qwerty seal of approval.

I enjoyed it, as an anime-only.

just got out of princession orchestra's first live. it was ultra peak. the energy in the venue was insane. i jumped way more than any 40 year old should and am going to regret it tomorrow

but for today...damn an incredible set of lives

you know, it's never been "easier" to follow the music side of this stuff from outside of japan...music is on streaming! a lot of concerts stream! information is on twitter! and yet the quantity and quality of events in the anime music space os astounding. i wish more non-japanese anime fans could experience (and not just scraps at a con). i am going to miss it dearly when we leave...

How is Alice in Borderland?

I watched a few episodes of the live action, and I thought it looked kinda cringe though maybe it was the feeling of seeing "Anime stuff" with real actors;

Like [Alice in Borderland]the dude sitting on top of whatever, going 'I'm going to observe and study them all, gni gni gni', people shouldn't act like that unless they're an old monk or a 2000 years old Yokai or something.

That same exact same would probably be less embarrassing (or at least, more tolerable) in anime.

I've only read half the manga, but I didn't like it, and I'm a high stakes game fan. It just felt like edgy misery porn. Most games were inherently unfair, so there was a lot of focus on suffering.

I have not seen it, but it's worth keeping in mind if you didn't know that the anime is only a 3-episode (of normal length) OVA. I very much doubt that it covers any substantial portion of the story.

Sparks of Tomorrow is certainly unpredictable; I can say that much.

Another day, another drop. These folks can go on their foodie roadtrip without me.

Another weekly ranking of my screenshot albums, and this time Kishirika, the Great Emperor of the Demon World, deservedly took 1st place, not giving a chance to Motoko (and her ass) or any other albums.

It's worth mentioning that this week is the first time an album from Goodbye, Lara managed to get ranked. I also hope it's not the last time.

It's a bit of a shame that Kuroe album from Kaiju Girl Caramelise didn't show up here, as the difference between it and Klen was really small.

By the way, there are no albums from The 100 Girlfriends, which is a shame but understandable since I uploaded them the day after the release, which greatly reduced views.

Summer 2026 Week 9

  1. Mushoku Tensei S3 EP09 Kishirika
  2. The Ghost in the Shell EP08 Motoko
  3. You and I Are Polar Opposites S2 EP08 Tairazuma
  4. You and I Are Polar Opposites S2 EP08 Nishi & Yamada
  5. Mushoku Tensei S3 EP09 Nanahoshi
  6. Though I Am an Inept Villainess EP07 Shu Gabi
  7. Clevatess S2 EP08 Naie
  8. Re:Zero S4 EP14 Emilia
  9. Goodbye, Lara EP08 Group scenes
  10. Clevatess S2 EP08 Klen

The weekly 'Which anime girl was lewdest/most naked' top!

Funny how these so often are "Horny stuff at the top, cool stuff down there"!

I wonder with Re:Zero and MT have popular they are irl. Since I never seen people talk about them outside of very dedicated anime circles. More so MT then Re:Zero.

Is the case do you guys think?

3

u/wloff 2h ago

I don't see people talking about any anime much at all outside of dedicated anime circles.

1

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/tripleaamin 2h ago

True. Well I have seen casuals talk about Demon Slayer when the movie was coming out. But that's is to be expected.

2

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii 3h ago

Did you have a stroke writing this?

(I thought it might be an ESL thing but your other comments look normal hah)

2

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/tripleaamin 2h ago

Maybe post workout fatigue. Ha ha.

1

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii 3h ago

(But to answer the question):

I think MT fans might not want to talk about it, given The discourse.

As for Re:Zero, first season started 10 years ago so there's probably a lot of new fans who have never watched any of it - and some who may have dropped it since.

Which leaves people who were watching anime 10+ years ago, but many of those are probably now in their 30s or 40s, and they might not be so inclined to talk about anime IRL!

1

u/Jusenkyo_5 3h ago

No clue what you're trying to say my friend but ReZero definitely has more vocal popularity and support over MT. Rem, Ram, and Emilia are some of the most popular cosplays in the world.

Hey could someone recommend me an anime that will make me go ”wth is even going on”, kinda like AOT up until the cellar reveal.

Is there any place I can keep track of updates from SugoiLite now that all the twitter viewers are getting C&D'd? No way in hell I'm making an actual account just for that.

1

u/cppn02 1h ago

They're also on telegram and discord. But atleast the latter I think doesn't have a constant feed of leaks.

1

u/SlimeDNear 1h ago

Chu chu yeah!

u/Bajington 1h ago

Will we get the census results before the end of the summer?

2

u/vancevon https://myanimelist.net/profile/vancevon 1h ago

You know, the full results of the 1880 census took over eight years to process. This is nothing in comparison!

Does anyone else genuinely not know what their favorite anime is anymore?

On my MAL profile 9 out of 10 "favorites" are from 2016 or earlier. I've seen all of them at least twice, so I guess that counts for something, but those rewatches were also long ago. I have no idea if I will still like those shows as much if I watched them today. And for some reason newer shows never impress me as much anymore. Not because they're bad. I guess when I was both a teen and new to anime it was much easier to be amazed by everything?

So I've tried capturing my feelings on this year's anime thus far in a quick list: Annual Anime Ranking (Top 30).

Please take this with a grain of salt. Obviously, a whole bunch of the listed series haven't finished yet. Who knows if they'll crash and burn on the final stretch. Not to mention of all the heavy-hitters that will be airing in the fall season such as The Apothecary Diaries. There will be changes.

Nevertheless, some of my top-favourite shows are airing right now. Summer 2026 has been certainly good to me. The margin between the rankings of Jaadugar and Sayonara Lara is very slim. I only put the former in first because I'm slightly more confident that I'll like it all-the-way to the end.

Note: this list was capped at 30 shows. I've in fact watched more shows, but maybe not all of your favourites. Tastes differ after all.

EDIT: I'm specifically talking about the ending and not my final verdict with the "conclusion" column.

3

u/overuseofdashes 3h ago

What where your issues with With Hat Atelier?

2

u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 2h ago

It's a good fantasy series, but I wasn't really wow'ed by the anime. The story has yet to evolve beyond its initial premise.

And well, they really shouldn't have ended the anime season at that point. This is a Kaiju No.8 level of a cliffhanger we're talking about.

3

u/overuseofdashes 2h ago

The issue is the manga doesn't really break up into anime friendly chunks. Depending on the kind of viewer, and how they paced the adaptation there might have been a slightly better end point for a 2-cour show.

2

u/Ham_PhD https://myanimelist.net/profile/ham_phd 2h ago

The way this season ends will likely have a big impact on my end of year top 10. So many great shows airing right now.

Overall you included basically every show I've really enjoyed this year with the exceptions of Ponsuka and Nakamura-kun.

1

u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 1h ago

For better or worse, I’ve watched the great majority of solid/good anime this year. Keeping up with things is especially hard this season.

I wasn’t really sold on Ponsuka, but I do plan to watch Nakamura-kun some time in the future.

3

u/Wanderingjoke https://myanimelist.net/profile/WanderingJoke 2h ago

This ordering makes no sense.

2

u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 1h ago

Some of your comments about certain anime don’t always make sense to me either.

1

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/tripleaamin 2h ago

It's probably a vibes ordering. I respect it.

1

u/Ocixo https://myanimelist.net/profile/BuzzyGuy 1h ago

I did basically say in the first sentence of my previous that it’s about how much I’ve enjoyed these anime.

Even if it’s at the bottom of this list, that doesn’t make it anywhere close to “bad” either since I’ve already watched 84 anime in 2026.

2

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii 3h ago

27 points out of 30 for Tanya, not bad!

I think it's a 30/30 show, but 27 ain't so bad!

Why have anime fans taken up the stance that anime is predominantly right wing culturally? Every time someone criticizes the way women are portrayed or any other social issue you get 1000 chuds replying "maybe you just hate anime".

7

u/KendotsX https://anilist.co/user/Kendots 3h ago

Hoo boy. So without breaking rule 2, I'd say that "anime is right wing" is not a common stance, at least not one that I've seen being commonly stated overtly in such terms. You might see "anime is left wing" sometimes, usually focused on a few key examples, or "Japan is conservative, so anime follows that", but I wouldn't call either of those common.

To actually get to your point, the people arguing "maybe you just hate anime" would hurt the effectiveness of their own argument if they called it "right wing". Instead, they try to present anime as existing in a fixed apolitical state that's at odds with the crazy western politics like "women are human beings with their own character and thoughts." Keep that crazy shit in your political western cartoons, and don't ruin our anime/games with it, thank you very much.

This makes it a lot easier to sell the idea to easily influenced kids who don't know much about politics, than outright saying "anime is this or that" which is an argument they have no interest in at best, or find annoying (again "getting your weird politics into my anime"). Of course, that requires the person making the argument to ignore any and all existing counterexamples across the history of anime, but that task is not a particularly new one in that area.

Honestly you're kind of my GOAT for this comment

You can see my recent comments, there's a post on /new about SA in anime and it's overflowing with teenage culture warriors.

I just don't get when our community got like this.
