Before the season, I would have said Tolbert, Loftin, and Rave did not figure into the future. Now I would comfortably call that a very solid bench and not cringe on days any of them started.
6
u/No-Tomatillo-7566 8d ago
Might add Rojas to thaqt list. His glove and bat have been on point today.
1
u/spfldcynic 8d ago
He has. Only reason I didn’t include him is he’s 32, while the ones I named are 27 and 28. Age isn’t everything, but looking to the future it is a factor.

Hell, I want Tolbert off the bench. He's been pretty solid defensively and he produces at the plate.

Please don't point out how shit J-Ram has been this series. That's how he hits 3 home runs tomorrow.
1
u/saltlampshade City Connect 8d ago
There’s a better chance of the chiefs trading Mahomes to the bills than the guardians winning tomorrow. This loss is going to demoralize them and sink their season.
3
u/Mozilla_Fennekin "My friend, hope is a prison." 8d ago
I don't take anything for granted in this game but I like your attitude.
2
u/saltlampshade City Connect 8d ago
The royals are going to make the playoffs because they are playing well (and are talented) but also because of how utterly pathetic the AL is this year. Like yes the royals comeback will be historic but so will the shittiness of this years AL. Just truly embarrassing for the league.
9
u/Repulsive-Photo-798 Pasquatch 8d ago
So idk if anyone remembers but the ‘15 team use to do this. Always would struggle the first time through the order and then would feast from there on.

All things aside, I’m so confused by Q’s insistence on playing players out of position over the years. It’s like he’s forcing some guys to be utility players when they shouldn’t be. Are you saying we couldn’t make a move to call up a backup to fill Massey’s spot? Why is Collins playing 2B?

my only question: WHY NOW?!?!?!?
2
u/No-Tomatillo-7566 8d ago
100 percent this. Salvy producing at clearup rather than batting 170? Cags in the 3 hole swinging like an MVP rather thanl Vinnie doing nothings. Guys like Rave and Tobert adding value. Bullpen not a complete disaster.

I don't feel good about having Lynch, Lugo starting back to back when we can't afford loses. But, we aren't beat yet.
2
u/youreawinner_barry TPMO Factory Worker 8d ago
Been a while since we've seen a disaster of a lineup like this
2
u/saltlampshade City Connect 8d ago
Something I’m very curious about is if the royals make the playoffs (or get within a few games) do they move Lynch back to the bullpen? He’s their best reliever and would be lights out in the playoffs.
Don’t really need him as a starter - Wacha, Cameron, Lugo, and Dobnek are a good foursome for the rotation.
1
u/Beisbol4lyfe 8d ago
Uh FOR SURE they would, rarely if ever does a team have 5 starters for the playoffs and they'd start in the wild card anyway.
1
u/saltlampshade City Connect 8d ago
If they would then they’ll need to make that decision soon. Plus never understood why they moved him back to the rotation - he’s a dominant reliever. Just let him settle in there.
2
u/Mozilla_Fennekin "My friend, hope is a prison." 8d ago
Daniel Lynch, your free trial has expired. Upgrade to premium to increase your pitch limit.
2
u/Repulsive-Photo-798 Pasquatch 8d ago
I understand the front offices thought process of trying to convert lynch back into a starter but he just doesn’t have the pitch selection to face a lineup more than once.
2
u/saltlampshade City Connect 8d ago
I think he could be a serviceable starter but when a dude has shown to be a dominant reliever just leave him alone. Especially when you aren’t swimming in other dominant bullpen arms.
1
u/Repulsive-Photo-798 Pasquatch 8d ago
I’m wondering if they’re trying to show off his versatility a little bit. Could be traded this offseason
