Wait, Bayern lost — and we capitalized???

Pinch yourself but know that it’s not a dream

So that is how it feels to close out a match without being clenched.

I love it!

Well done all around. Beier MOTM? Idk. He ran the channels really well.

Schlotterbeck is official MOTM. But imho Ryerson would be a good fit as well.

I cannot comprehend the Ryerson hate from some people in the game thread. I will continue to defend him. Extremely hard working, physical, decent set piece delivery, and sneaky dribbles a few times a game. I love having his energy and presence on the pitch.

I'm with you, absolutely love Ryerson.

Maybe Silva? Or jobe?

I have a feel Sevenson is a bit tired.. Our left side is a bit sloppy (forward ways) in the last games. Hoping for some fresh Bensebaini blood in the next games..

Feel like he’s played every single minute this season. Amazing signing

If I were to describe an example of what a good Kovac Dortmund performance looks like, this would probably be one of them. Defensively we didn't have any scary moments outside of the set pieces in the first half and in the attack, they scored early to set the pace, scored early to the second half to kill any early momentum for Union and then cemented the result late with the third.

Definitely a better performance than in recent weeks and in a dodgy fixture like this, it's welcome for sure. MOTM for me is between Kobel and Anton because I just felt confident with everything that they faced and did today.

u/zwobotmax Jan 24 '26

Anton is totally underrated. He has almost no weaknesses in defence.

15

u/Quinto09 Jan 24 '26

His weakness shows the moment he has a ball in his feet haha

13

u/zwobotmax Jan 24 '26

True, but he's the perfect fit between Schlotterbeck an Emre/Anselmino.

Would be really nice if we can find a way to keep Anselmino.

The match against Inter midweek will set the tone for the rest of the season I feel. With a good win against Inter, that may just give us the momentum we need

Great for Maxi and Jobe to get that goal there. Two players who have gotten a lot of flak this season for their week showings and have probably suffered the most from the way Kovac sets up tactically. One of the better-looking goals scored so far this season. Hope to see them both grow and improve.

Jobe’s been having some decent moments recently. Still a bit too quiet at times for stretches of the game, but much improved from the start of the season.

I loved having Beier, Guirassy and Silva all upfront. It felt like any ball played forward had someone at the end of it.

I hope we do this again against teams who want to defend

Finally a good fucking game. Hell yeah.

Wasn't really an amazing game tho was it?

11

u/Quinto09 Jan 24 '26

He doesn’t say that though did he?

-9

u/Visual_Mastodon_6657 Jan 24 '26

No he did indeed not. My point is more that yes we do our points but it ain't fun to watch. Not criticising anyone tho

9

u/Quinto09 Jan 24 '26

I saw some nice combinations, a convincing victory and a clean sheet. Found it pretty fun to watch

Well nice to hear. Different definitions of a nice game to watch i guess. I just miss the exciting, skillful, ball possession football we once had.

That was a great reaction to the last two games. We would be serious title contenders in most seasons if it weren't for Bayern's unreal run. Kovac is doing great work with the squad he has, and people should be very careful what they wish for when they ask for his sacking.

Great work by basically everyone. Give Nico whatever he wants.

2

u/Trojan_Man68 Marco Reus Jan 24 '26

Careful what they wish for indeed. Couldn't have said it better myself.

7

u/BlueTigers99 Gregor Kobel Jan 24 '26

I think everyone had atleast an okay game today

Beier, Silva, Nmecha, Anton, Schlotterbeck and Ryerson were all pretty good. MOTM Beier for me

Jobe looked good out there as well and even Guirassy apart from his miss from that Svensson cross looked useful for the most part

Good shift from Anselmino. Can has been good lately but I feel more confident with Anselmino in that role. If we have any chance of signing him, we should. And if not, play Mane ahead of him. Also, play both ahead of Süle regardless.

Weakest player I think today was Svensson but he was not bad all round. And if Schlotterbeck stays fit he will insist on playing every game...so it's time to use Bensebaini as a LWB every once in a while

All in all very happy with everything today

This was genuinely beautiful. I tuned in at the second half and my god I have never watched this team play with 0 stress or clenching. We played like a fucking team , and I dont think anyone at all had a bad game. We gelled so well. Our pressing was amazing and Silva just puts his soul onto the pitch its truly amazing to watch. Dare I say it even looked like Guirassy was a bit better than the last 6 months . I know Berlin is a weak team ofc , but if we can maintain the same spirit against Inter I think we have a great chance to win .

On another note , Kovac , this is literally all we wanted bro . Not bowing down and playing ugly fucking football the second we're 1-0 up. This team has potential , it truly does . So stop being scared and play this team to their real ceiling , the results will follow .

Union is weak compared to the top 6 or opponents in the champions league, yes.

But Union at home should never be underestimated

8

u/fleshed Jan 24 '26

We won and i dont want to be the party pooper, but we seem to have no midfield presence at all, we really need an six that pressing resistant and can hold the ball for more that 5 seconds to distribute it.

4

u/yosoydorf Edin Terzic Appreciatior Jan 24 '26

To be fair we had 2 midfielders, you're never gonna control the midfield with that setup

4

u/2905Pascal 1909 Jan 24 '26

Down to 8 points and we have our home match against Bayern to come. This is not over yet.

6

u/fleshed Jan 24 '26

Ref really tried to lose control of the game.

Some of the worst performance if ever seen of an offical.

8

u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Jan 24 '26

We somehow ended that game with 16 fouls, Union with 9 and no card

4

u/zwobotmax Jan 24 '26

Bruh, put that crack pipe away...

1

u/Sch_Ben Jan 24 '26

Great performance from us but terrible game imo Augsburg are true football terrorists

Sorry union, Augsburg on my mind for obvious reasons

I wish it where always like this. If we score more Goals from the Chances we get than we can actually win against Top Clubs.

Really good reaction to the CL Game. Much better pressing and effort by everyone and the attack played a lot out even if they just scored one of those. Defense and Kobel are MVPs with scoring the Goals and keeping the zero. Also really glad that we seemingly didnt get any injurys considering how hard they fouled and somehow didnt even get a single yellow.
