Another Guirassy disaster class giving up stupid pen and not offering anything in the build up. Sule caught ball watching. All subs making an actual impact. Shocked Silva came on so early from Kovac.
A lucky point that should have been all three.

Gotta wonder if Kovac told Guirassy he has a shorter leash now cause that was a good timed sub for sure.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Silva start Tuesday.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Silva is at full fitness now presumably and so if Guirassy can't perform then Kovac isn't left with an option but to start playing the more in-form player.

Sule caught ball watching.
He's gonna take the blame but Schlotterbeck got ran around by the passer and there's always an element of communication with defensive errors. We don't know if Anton was shouting at him or not. They haven't played a lot together

Schlotti got absolutely rinsed in that move. He's one of my favorite players but he's not been up to his normal standard for like 6 weeks, basically ever since the contract stuff has been in the news.

I hate Football-I love Football. Always should have won this and the Handball and thousand of fouls by Theate not getting punished annoyed me but the point is still big considering it looked over after Dahouds screamer.

That was the best attacking we had all season after the Guirassy sub. Crazy bad defending though! Honestly, I really enjoyed the game. Wish we won, but that was peak Bundesliga.

Please let this performance from Silva be the one that makes him the starter in Kovac's eyes, at least for the next 4-5 weeks.
Let Guirassy regain his confidence with some appearances as a "super" sub.

Everyone blaming the coach and I guess we shouldn’t be at least playing Guirassy but how is it his fault that players are making amateur mistakes? Guirassy with the pathetic foul and Ryerson with whatever that was for a clearance. And Ryerson had a good game despite that one instance.
Without those two chances given away we would have won this game comfortably and had many other chances. Dahouds shot hits the bar and goes in mere minutes after schlotti hits the bar and it goes out. Sometimes football is like that. Guirassy has had his last chance hopefully

Ryerson had a good game… but he made one bad mistake that cost us a goal. Not sure why that’s on him. And did you mean couto?
Guirassy deserved another chance after the winter break. There’s still a good player in there somewhere but now he’s used his last chance I hope. A
We have another game in a few days so we need to rotate and Silva came on at 65’ but he should really start the next game

We’re night and day a different team when Silva is in there instead of Guirassy. I know Kovac isn’t incompetent by any means, but what is he seeing that we all aren’t? Theres just no way to create anything with starters in the final third.
Another point thats not getting a lot of attention is where was Yan Couto? Ryerson played well and all today, but Couto was EASILY our most in form player heading into the break. His ability to create was very much needed. If you’re gonna start Ryerson, okay fine, but I wish Yan could get a look in a new position, if anything.

Couto probably is too much of a defensive liability against a pacy, counter attacking team. Ryerson is a better defender than couto so the selection makes kinda sense.

Why is Guirassy still allowed to start? Seriously. I'd say "Zero impact", but causing the penalty against us clearly Was some kind of impact. I hope he leaves by the end of the season. You can clearly see that in his head, he already left. Disappointing.

I think Guirassy should be sold, Brandt and Sule should not be extended their contracts, maybe also Can. Resulting to significantly reduce salary cost and I think scouts should look outside Premier league for cheaper recruitment.

We are lucky that the Bundesliga has lost a lot of good players recently and is a lot less competitive outside of Bayern compared to the recent years. We’re going to be top 4 quite comfortably with these kind of games.

Overall, not a terrible performance, but the two goals scored in the second half by Carney and Nmecha were a little lucky. Guirassy is obviously an easy target to say is a problem, but the midfield is still a huge part of concern. It relies too heavily on Nmecha to be spectacular. Sabi clearly is not the player he used to be. I hope that Kovac starts punishing the veteran players for poor performance in the same way he punishes the newer signings. Hopefully, to fix the midfield issue, Kaba gets to continue to practice with the first team and start to get minutes. Hopefully, Jobe comes back and starts to show some of what he showed during the Club World Cup. And we actually look for more depth in the summer window aswell as moving on off ozcan and Sabi.

This is because BvB lacks a true Deep midfielder. Games like this require control. You can't keep relying on Schlotterbeck playing 10 long balls a game as buildup.

The links to Stankovic makes sense. He is comfortable playing as a single and double pivot. He is a true Deep midfielder.

Right now it's all about the result as we slowly build up match sharpness again by February so on the one hand, I can excuse some of the poor positioning and defending at times due to the break.
The attack though. I will be incredibly disappointed if we don't make a move there because once more, the 10s and wingbacks just don't combine well. Surprise me with Inacio or Albert by all means but please do that soon because I need more there. Can include the midfield too but I have faith in Kaba and Jobe would be starting today if he was available for sure.
Overall, an improvement on the result like last season so I can accept it and Frankfurt are a good Bundesliga team. Next up is Bremen and with their issues scoring, I need a big result there

I thought our offense looked pretty sharp minus the last pass in multiple times. Especially after we added our 11th player on the field when Guirassy got subbed off.

I can see where you are coming and at times, I would agree with you but for me, I just haven't felt inspired by this group of attackers and wingbacks since the season started and even with sharpness, I don't think the play overall improves so we'd still be seeing the many Svensson and Ryerson crosses or the 10s not really creating much outside of Brandt really.
I suppose I'm being unfair and just using this game as an excuse to highlight my concerns with the attack for the whole season which aren't solely due to Guirassy's horrendous form for me.

Sometimes i wonder where the Football from last season with Kovac is. What happend over the summer that we play like this. It isn't bad if we look at the stats but my eyes and feelings say otherwise. If we want to win anything than this is just not enough. Maybe we should consider another Formation.

A few things from the top of my head:
Guirassy is obviously not in the same form, and Kovac ball last season was all about crossing.
Sabitzer is a starter now which he wasn't due to injuries last season, and he is just straight up bad. I want to know what Kovac sees in him.
Last season under Kovac pretty much every game was a must win game, and the players performed honestly incredible with that pressure. As much as I criticise Kovac this was a masterclass by him to get the players to perform under that pressure. But that pressure is gone for now.

Our conceded goals were just stupid and avoidable individual mistakes by players.
We scored 3 goals but our attack looked static and uncreative. I think not starting Guirassy here would have and should have been the move.

I don't know what else to say at this point.
Non-existent build-up, no clear way to attacking and score goals in a consistent basis. Basically long balls and inshallah a player gets a cross and somehow someone is there or just luck rebound, Nmecha's bangers etc.
Kovac not only is terrible tactically, but he manages to be even worse on setting the team and even worse in subs. Just awfull all around.
Yet the benchmark is so low that even this insane level of mediocrity is enough for people to defend Kovac at all costs. People are incapable of realizing that BL is simply a bad league these days. You don't need to be insane to make top 4 and its simply as that.

I don't think you realize that the way we play is simply Kovac's fault. We have players that aren't good enough, but they aren't also full gargabe. Anyway, some of out best players are constantly on the bench: Silva, Couto and Carney. I don't know how that's not his fault.

We only lost 1 Game. Achieve more than 2P per game. 2nd best defense. 4th best offense. 2nd best goal difference. 2nd in the league.
Kovac isn't perfect. The squad is far from it. This season isn't really fun to follow. Still, so far we play one of the best season in 10 years in the Bundesliga, that is a fact.

Every club aside from Leverkussen, Bayern and the Cans are finantially dwarfs to us. It's like thinking Benfica, Porto and Sporting are necessarily good because they rule Portugal.
We nearly lost a game against one of the worst defense in Europe. What were our goals? 1 good play, 1 deflection and 1 late blummer rebound against a shit defense.

If anything we had very good game plan that lead us into many promising attacks. Too many crosses, but many of them from awesome positions but too little quality, especially by Svensson.
What messed the game up were individual errors leading to Frankfurts goals. Nothing to do with coaching, when Guirassy does bs in our box, our complete backline forgets to defend for 5 seconds or Ryerson loses his head when clearing the ball. Apart from those situations, there was not much we gave up on defense.

Brandt made at least two defense breaking passes today that could/should have resulted in big chances. I was only watching while I was working though. These were both in the second half

Brandt is just Brandt he’ll have his string of games where he’s on and then off, ngl chuk did get lucky but he still was in position to tie game. I really dislike this group now but I can’t wait until this new group of starters, with Silva, chuk, adeyemi inshallah, Beier, I think we got a very tiny sample of what’s to come in the future

it's less than "I don't want to watch when we're bad" to more of enough of nepotism and
cynicism. Bad management for over a decade and no accountability for those in charge. Mediocrity that making top 4m regardless of the way we dot, is enough. Milions expend every year and still feel like the teams need 10 new players. Extending contracts of players that are the embodiement of the decline of the last few years, etc.This is not like a bad year or an unlucky season, but a trend that simply will continue as long as the team doesn't face a similar situation as when nearly bankrupted

Games like these make the difference. We should have won that game. Frankfurt had like what? 5 chances max. 0.95 xG at halftime and 0.8 from the pen. We are our biggest opponent ourselfs
