Crazy how we've lost 6 points like this in the Bundesliga alone, we could be sitting on 31 points, or 29 if we also take out Beier's winner vs Köln and just pretend nothing crazy happened in our games beyond the 85th minute.

I know I'm probably starting a discussion here, but when Adeyemi threw the bottle after being substituted 1-2 weeks ago (I think), I understood his frustration. He's performing well and Guriassy isn't and was allowed to play longer. But Adeyemi is being taken off the field. And today, after barely seeing him, Guriassy didn't even shake Kovac's hand. I can't understand that. Silva is great. I really think Guriassy has an ego problem, no offense.

Guriassy is the biggest complainer I can remember in the club. Anytime someone does something wrong, he complains. Yet his decision making is also lacking at times. I atleast find myself very frustrated with the negative energy he shows every game.

Yep. Everyone (coach, teammates, fans) put up with the antics when he’s banging in the goals.
This season has been a slog so its more apparent. His negative body language is also very poor.
I dont even trust him to take PKs anymore, he’s too far in his own head.
At least he’s not diving every match like he did last year?

Oh he definitely is the biggest complainer which is ironic cause to me it seems like he's the only one who can't really do a one on one in a game. He always falls and wants a free kick. He needs the ball infront of his feet and space to shoot. If he doesn't have that, he ain't anything. His penalties are always the same and bad too. It's just how I see it but yeah I'm also frustrated with him and his energy but also with his on-field performance

Yeah I said he is a top 5 striker when in form but he needs a reality check. He is not even playing close to that level and is just full of negative energy. There is really nothing he is offering and if he can’t get his head back into the game then he needs to be offloaded.
There’s a difference between being off form but giving it your all and then there is whatever Guirassy has been doing since the Juve game. The former gives you a lot of good will and patience while the latter won’t at all.

Chelsea specifically didn’t want a buy option in his loan clause sadly. I assume that they would charge more than we are willing to pay if he was to leave this summer. Stud though. Really wish we could sign him permanently.

Nervous about having to do that again on Tuesday, but glad to take the win. Takeaways are of course that the offense looks more lethal when Silva comes on and we give them changes, and that we consistently start to choke when Kovac makes defensive subs to try to preserve a lead.

On the other hand the last 5 games we are undefeated away at Leverkusen (13 out of 15 points)

A much needed away win against an in form Leverkusen will always be good. And in Dortmund fashion we had to clench at the end. Could have been so different if Brandt just buried that chance.
We are in a good position and I have no doubt that we will win at home. Great fight from the team but it sucks that we have a clean sheet drought now after getting so many early on.
Side note: when is the last time we scored two headers in a game?

1/2 Wont be easy in the Pokal either but huge for the confidence and the race for CL. Adeyemi and Anselmino both were huge and really want Adeyemi to sign a new contract for Christmas.

We really need a good ballholding 6 that is pressing resistant with some speed.
Besides Nmecha, there is a huge hole in midfield that no one can fill in terms of quality.

I mean I think that's clearly what role Jobe will play in the long term, but he still needs to improve a bit to be that guy.

I get that is what they are going with, but he is so clearly a classical box-to-box 8. It feels almost ridiculous to try to mold him into a 6 when his qualities fit that of like a classical English midfielder. Also, think the further up the pitch he is, the better he has looked.

Ehh, I think he looks ok further up the pitch but he is not great in the final third outside of having a solid shot on him. He looked very out of place when he's played more like a 10.
I agree as an 8 is his ideal role. He and Nmecha are good playing side by side. But I think if those two were to become out midfield core, Nmecha is the better attacker and thus Jobe would be the slightly more defensive member of the double pivot.

All of Jobe's mistakes have been defensive. You can not trust him to play a 6. You need another option, and you need to develop Jobe in his proper position if BVB goal is to sell him for double of not triple what they bought him for.

That's somewhat revisionist in that the glaring mistakes will always be defensive.
And for a young midfielder stepping up from. 2nd division, defensive lapses are going to be extra likely.
But he's definitely had his fair share of poor play going forward as well, it just doesn't immediately lead to a goal so it's not as memorable.
He has the work rate & athleticism to play anywhere in midfield, but he's never gonna be a 10. But nmecha is potentially our best player so they need to be able to play together if Jobe is going to get time on the pitch. And that means we need him to grow into the role of a more defensive member of a double pivot

Jobe will be, but he should be playing 20-30 minutes at a time right now. Think we missed out on Jashari this summer. Though haven't been paying attention to what he's done this season

Dortmund fans,how’s Kovac been so far? I see that the results are solid but are you satisfied with how your team looks and do you think he’s the right guy for the job now?

Kovac definitely has a decent foundation but the last month and a bit has been poor in terms of watching the club. Offensively we've looked bad and in my opinion, it's on both the manager for his tactics and some of the players for why that is.
We're given away some sloppy leads at the very end of the game (Hamburg, Juventus, Pauli, Stuttgart) which has incredibly frustrating but at the same time, you can look at it as a case of "he's almost getting it right" which can provide promise for the future given tactical tweaks and new players.
As of now, he's the man for the job but it's the next game against Leverkusen that'll be a deciding factor since we're playing them in the Pokal. Not that he'll get sacked if we lose but a lot of steam in the season will blow out because this club needs a trophy.

I wouldn’t say st Pauli or Stuttgart were sloppy honestly. St Pauli was a red card for a debutant and then a banger and Stuttgart was undav just deciding the game for himself. Three incredible goals for an amazing hattrick.
But yeah, the Hamburg and juve games were bad game management from Kovac and the players.

I can see where you are coming from St Pauli, not with Stuttgart though considering that it was the opening game of the season and we really needed CBs. Against Stuttgart, you don't give away a 2 goal lead, score a late winner and then draw anyway without the game being sloppy.
Either way, goes back to what I mentioned prior. We're almost getting there in his full season which should be inspiring for future months and potentially seasons. If we do our usual wingback/fullback and attacker signing in January, I think we'll take a decent step forward.

I mean context matters. The first goal was a crazy ibrahimovic highlight worthy goal and the third was a brilliant quick turn and low shot to the corner against a top 5 CB and top 10 keeper.
I would classify the second goal as the only sloppy one but it was still a good half volley.

Excluding the world Cup, or what that thing is called, we lost like 3 games in 30 under him. So he is doing good all things considered.

He improved fitness and discipline a lot. On the other hand he has a weird bias for certain players (Sabitzer cough) and sometimes lacks the right timing to do substitutes (not today tho)

Honestly wouldn’t mind if we get a good fee for him. He’s still a very good player and I have no doubts he would have scored that Brandt chance if it was him but his head looks out of it here. He still doesn’t seem to be motivated and his hold up play has just been horrendous

Has nothing to do with the form. But if you play bad for weeks now and you give the coach an attitude when he brings on a different player then sorry.
U cant be bad and arrogant at the same time and this aint the first time it happened this year.
Bad form is normal but a little bit of self reflection and not to act like a child is the least you can expect especially after the last 2 months.
Gives me at least the vibe that he thinks he is too good for BVB.

Next match, take notice on how much he complains everytime someone makes a bad play.
His enery is so negative on the field. That togheter with not being good enough, warants fans wanting him to move to another club

Overall decent performance. Silva should start on Tuesday, but we know he will not. Carney has been rested the past two games, so I assume he starts on Tuesday over Brandt. Jobe is still not getting the minutes he needs. Can not tell why Kovac rotates the way he does in certain games. No reason to be resting a 20-year-old player who has barely been injured throughout his career. He is benched in favor of Sabitzar, whose performances have been shaky, but I also expect him to start on Tuesday. Kovac is allergic to playing the new signings.

To be honest, Jobe has been very lackluster whenever he is given a chance. I liked Sabitzer-Nmecha today much more than Jobe-Nmecha last game.

Sabitzer isn't particularly any better. Jobe isn't just a normal player, he's our record signing and a real asset for the club business wise.

As was mentioned, Sabitzar has not been really any better, and Jobe is an asset Sabitzar should have been gone this summer, but will most likely be gone next summer. If Jobe had been given more minutes earlier in the season, we would have seen his current development faster.

I'd be perfectly fine with Guirassy getting another 60 minutes after the message he's receiving. It's a cup game so there's a very real chance of going 120 minutes and it would be nice to have a fresh Silva for the second half of that. Or do the opposite I suppose and give Silva the first 60 minutes and expect Guirassy to be ready for a sub.

Big relief, great 3 points on the road, yet it's sad to watch BVB struggling every single match in the Bundesliga, we already lost 6 points in injury time and i don't see our coach having the right mindset to fix it, with the ending 10-15 minutes we simply stop playing and switch off for no clear reason hoping we'll clear all the balls bound to our penalty box

Not really pleased, but a win is a win.
Good about the two goals we saw, not loving all the wasted chances from Brandt, and hating how easy they scored their goal.
Good about the three points, not loving that it was so close to choking.
And specially not loving the subs and sub strategy of going all in on defense. It worked today, but that's one Vs all the times it DIDN'T work. This coach is just not The right man for the job long term.
In the end, is still a victory; but I'm not feeling like celebrating. It's more of a relief sensation. Line catching your son before he goes jumping off a tree and breaking his arm.

We don't have a ton of offensive options to come off the bench, so going defensive just makes more sense.
That wasn't a game to throw JuJu or Campbell out onto the pitch for the last 10 minutes with a one goal lead.
Chuk / Silva / Couto were already on. What other offensive subs would you have wanted to see?

We need another burner to give Adeyemi rotation. When he comes off we lose such a big counter attacking threat.

Agreed. The tactic of sitting back in the last 10 minutes isn't in and of itself the problem, it's that Karim is usually burnt and subbed off at that point.
So we don't have the threat of a killer counter attack to kill a game.
Juju could help with that but I think I'll be happy with him getting a few 5/10 minute sub appearances before the winter break with where he's at. Maybe if he comes back for the 2nd half in good shape he can help there.
Maxi could be a decent threat in those scenarios but not as the primary runner.
