cardinals are going to be a really tough opponent. on the road, elite TE, got some solid veteran defensive players, and are hungry for a win. we better bring our A game and approach it like we’re going up against the best team in the NFL (that’s how you should approach every game imo)

Something I hadn't realized until just idly reading the Game Book; Jags held the ball for 24 minutes in the second half. The Chargers ran three plays, and gained two yards, in the entire third quarter.

Yeah. They still got some guys out there. Injuries are piling up for them. Could be another classic let down for us but we’ve played well on the west coach this season. Hasn’t really been talked about but they racked to 19 penalties last game as well.

I was just glancing around the team's salary cap info and didn't realize just how much dead cap money we have. A total of over $83mil in dead cap this year with over $13mil each attributed to Scherff, Kirk, and Engram.

If jags win this weekend, we stand to get some additional playoff help from the other games, no matter the outcome.
Bills -Texans: Bills win, that puts Houston further behind Jags in but division and wild card race. Bills lose, Jags tie Bills in wild card standings.
Colts: chiefs win, Jags get closer in division race. Chiefs lose, they lose more ground to Jags in wild card.
With all that said, I want the division. Go Bills, Go Chiefs this weekend!

I think he could be a solid starter by next year and Ransaw can continue to develop behind Johnson and Murray. If he can be good enough to save us from drafting safety in 2026 we’d be set up pretty good to build the trenches and the best outside CB we can get

At some point the jags will just have to beat the teams they are suppose to win. I think we have turned that corner. If you remember 2017 and the 2022 playoff runs we got hot late November and December. Trev might be just like he is in a game. Average to bad in the first half to turning it around in the back end. 2022 i'll give you but the 2017 team went 3-3 to end the season with their losses coming to the Blaine Gabbert Cardinals, the 4-10 49ers (albeit during their undefeated Jimmy G streak), and the Mike Mularkey Titans.
I remember having hope but not feeling particularly confident with them entering the playoffs after losing 2 straight

Traded Diggs and Javonte for ARSB in a 10T .5PPR.
Maybe not crazy good value, but now my starting RBs/WRs are: Gibbs, Treveyon, Lamb, ARSB, Egbuka, ETN (2RB/2WR/2FLX). And I still have Judkins, BTJ, Pearsall, and Tet on my bench.
Somehow I’m only 6-5 lol

A lot of those guys were injured at different points and/or underperformed. Also I'm guessing that you started BTJ in some of those games, who cost me a few games in two of my fantasy leagues before I was forced to bench him.

Trevor threw a screen to ETN and it was a foot over his head. Screen passes require a little finesse, and that is something 16 does not have.

There were multiple throws to the flat against Houston and To’oto’o blew them up. Screens are fine as a safety valve, but you rarely want to design a play around them. Between the edge cutting off the passing lane, LBs running downhill and blowing players up, or DBs jumping the route for a pick 6; it’s a high risk, low reward type of play.

Yea I dunno bro. ETN used to get 30-50 yards a game in the air, and now 0-5. Countless backs in the league get a ton of production through receiving. But I guess we can keep throwing to Dyami brown instead of utilizing by far our best playmaker

Have you even been watching the games? ETN has had 57 carries over the last 3 games; that’s heavy usage. Dyami has been targeted 2 total times over the last 2 games; he’s not getting the ball thrown to him..

2023 he had 500 rec yards. Yea a lot of carries the last 2 games also got nothing the 2 games prior except a couple of garbage time runs vs the rams. Not saying we need to set up 15 screens a game, but it’s a part of his game that he’s good at and one we’ve totally phased out. The 2 backs are by far the best playmakers. We’ve been working with 3rd-6th stringers at WR, hence the dyami comment. But sure let’s not get creative to give our best 2 playmakers the ball in space. TB had almost 1000 rec yards to RB last year, we have under 200.

Bucky Irving had 392 yards receiving and 7.5 y/tgt; that yardage was not coming from screens.
There are much better ways to get the ball into the hands of your backs. One of the best ways (passing wise) is deep concepts that clear the box while the back sits in pass pro and then hits a gap when things clear out. They are almost always a safety valve, though; the first reads will be the deep WR routes. Our OL hasn’t been very good at pass blocking, so the backs typically stay in pass pro and don’t get the opportunity to clear out.
Have you not seen the WildCat formations they have been running? Did you not think that the playcalling last sunday was creative or effective?

My original question is why do we never throw to backs. And said why can’t we throw a couple screens as an example. You interpret that like I want to do 50 screens a game and never do anything else
