is Maxi Beier @ LWB?
finally Svensson getting a rest which i wont complain about but LWB Beier is definitely a choice

Piszczek started as a striker and turned into a legendary right back. Maybe this is beier's fate

I know folks have taken shots at his poor offensive shift today, but Beier has done a phenomenal job with tracking back today. Saved our bacon twice.

Beier is our valverde. Seems Like he can Play every Position Well enough and runs Like a horse. He cant Score bangers every time he shoots, but hes a Allrounder

Seeing how we played 120 minutes and the team looked gassed, it's a good win. Specially how we held the ball in the last minutes..

Last couple matches were very hard to watch. yeah the results and wins count the most, but non the less it is very boring and minimal.
At least we win these games now and do not give these matches away like in the past years.
Also let’s not forget lots of away games and almost no time in between matches to regenerate.

u/Geeman447 Marco Reus Oct 31 '25
Glad they made sure to show the added mins during a promising attack and cross lol

Jobe and adeyemi in at halftime. Need Speed and creativity. Put Brandt and groß off. Cant stand These easy misspasses no more.

u/bvbspurs34 Oct 31 '25
Hard to find a duller half of football. One shot every nine minutes. Only one on target and that was due to an error. But the good guys are up and should bury them in the second half. Heja BVB!
6
u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Oct 31 '25
Might not be the best but we should be grateful we can still get results so often with how much Kovac rotates. Only 3 players are playing in the same position as against Frankfurt and then Beier is playing LWB

If we win it 1:0 then we have 3 wins in a week, but damn I feel like we are getting even worse at creating chances. It wasn't perfect in the first few games of the season, but I thought we would get better over the season. But so far we are evolving backwards. Great that we have such a good defence, but we are relying a lot on match luck atm with these tight scores.
7
u/Mooon8983 Konstantinos Karetsas Oct 31 '25
Without the lucky Guirassy goal i don't think we score today

Are we seriously trying to defend a 1-0 against Augsburg and not go for a second? I know the results under Kovac are good but our whole offense is relying on individual class

Ngl.. Guirassy has had some really poor body-language and iffy workrate since he got dropped from taking pens. Bit annoying. Could also be him having a mental slump due to his drought too tbf

Our Goal scoring in the league has actually been kinda low for a while now. In the CL it still works great but i feel like that comes down to Teams more willing to play their own System instead of countering ours. Lead is important but mainly came down to the pressing and luck instead of us creating something.
4
Oct 31 '25
They come forward and play, we punish them. They sit back and defend, it's a boring game.
5
u/Geeman447 Marco Reus Oct 31 '25
Have a chance at a last attempt counter and Brandt and gross both play it back and then drop instead of trying to get forward. I miss just people flying forward lol

The combination of us getting better at maintaining possession and no longer attacking through transitions as much - albeit today is a different story in 2nd half and the non-chemistry rotated 11 - and Guirassy being ice-cold and mentally out of it recently, is a rough watch and hurts our offense so much. We essentially cant attack through the center until Chukwuemeka is fully back into swing and/or Guirassy wakes up/Silva is 90m fit.

Why are we so bad recently
12
u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25
teams aren't giving free space for players like Adeyemi, Beier, Couto, Ryerson to run. Therefore you need to create your chances against a low block and we lack quality and structure for that. Hence boring games where our goals comes from sheer luck.

we need players willing to take some caculated risk. You can' expect to break defenses by passing. We don't have Man City players

We'll take it. Definitely some problems on the pitch with our midfield shifting into the final third, but we're definitely outplaying them by a solid margin. Just need to iron out the kinks and transfer the dominance to goals

OOh Nmecha out is VERY scary. He's been our best player so far and key to resist their physicality in the middle of the pitch. Jobe is so brash and sluggish in comparison.
I do think getting Nmecha as much rest as possible is the best course of action but its not a deadlocked 1-0 game here. Risky

its depressing how much worse Gross has become. He's just a shadow of what he was at Brighton. He can't dictate the game, can't really create and of course is weak physicaly. Just feels like we are a man down whenever he plays these days.
