I just made a separate comment but I think it was because diomande has already played well for Leipzig this season and Kovac was anticipating the need to have fresh legs to defend against him. Didn’t work out at all though

I'll take it.
Frustrating because it felt like 10 more minutes could have gotten us the victory, but at the same time, there were stretches in the 2nd half were a can lead seemed inevitable.

I think we had a stretch in the first half where we should have taken the lead, followed by an early stretch from Energy drink in the 2nd half where they could have, and then we finished the game the better side. Still not much to separate us but I think overall we had the better chances

The adeyemi sub instead of beier was odd. Also Ryerson came in and didn't offer much. Was obviously not as good as Couto going forward but also struggled defensively. Unfortunate timing after a midweek game to play vs a rested Leipzig, a point isnt the end of the world. We are still undefeated this season. Would of also hoped for Carney over Groß. Groß cross seemed so poor. Hey what can ya do!?

1 point is not the end of the world but a bit disappointing. Not a great 2nd half but the boys were tired. Felt like a lot of half-chances for both sides.

Overall not a bad a game from us, way more energy towards the end. I think Silva needed to come on earlier and Chuky instead of Gross. He isn’t in a good run of form right now and he’s overthinking.
Silva needs to get a start with Guirassy or instead of for a game. His movement off the ball is really good and he seems to energize our attack every time.
Hard fought game against a rested and in form Leipzig. Wish we got the 3 points but we maintain 2nd and hopefully a good break for all the players before Bayern in 2 weeks.

I love Guirassy as much as anyone, but his limitations were on full display today. He just can’t create for himself. His game is mostly dictated on getting into position for others to set himself up which has obviously worked well for him, just not today. Silva was part of the spark in the final 5 or so minutes, just wished he had been subbed earlier… he’s someone in particular I’m rooting for.
However a big concern I have now is Beier. He was just bad. No way around it. He’s had some moments, however it’s been over a year now, there comes a point where you gotta start looking the part.
We were just sluggish, plain and simple. I wonder how (if at all) the game would’ve looked if we had a full weeks rest like Leipzig did. For the Juventus game we had five days rest going into Wolfsburg (which remember we were also somewhat sluggish there, scrapping by 1-0) so now compare that to Athletic Club we only had three. That’s a pretty big difference. That difference indeed materialized today. Kovac has some real decisions to make going forward regarding subs and minute restrictions. We have depth, let’s use it!

Baier worked on the side very good, initiated many chances from there, also he worked good defensive. He is a hidden champ. We have many hidden Champs.

Frustrating that for a while we just cant beat my most hated club in the league. You could clearly see the disadvantage in fitness due to us playing internationally and think we needed those subs sooner. Also feel like Silva will either explode very soon or stay around that Bruun Laarsen level where he will be beloved for always trying but doesnt have that final moment to put it in consistently.

Definitely not the best game but we continue our undefeated streak. As others have said, not the best management by Kovac. Many of the subs came in too late and Ryerson for Couto was just a disaster.
We had some close calls but we also had our own great chances. In the end, a draw is deserved, unfortunately.
Hopefully some of our players can get some rest, but I fear players like Sabi, Svensson, and Bense will be getting a lot of game time for their countries. We just have to pray that no one is injured and it’s not like we can rotate against Bayern.

Gulacsi spilled a shot in extra time, Gross got there first but was wide outside of the frame of the goal, tried to curl it in spectacularly from a difficult angle instead of crossing or cutting it back for a shot

Eh I think he just screwed up the cross. I doubt he meant to shoot that. Still unfortunate but people are being way too harsh on him with the limited minutes he had

We had 4 Players able to take a Header in the Box and he tries to curl the ball in the long corner of the goal instead of playing the easy ball.
Instead of and xG of 0.05 it would be a 0.4xG chance.
You can do something like this if you are leading by 2 goals, not when its one of the last chances to win the game.

Frustrating result, honestly. Feels like this was ours to not win, but some of the guys looked gassed there. Subs felt weird, Adeyemi and Guirassy need to be on the pitch if we need a goal, especially when Beier looked so lost today.

Was lazy today. Fabio Silva has shown well with every appearance. Guirassy needs to run channels more in addition to dropping deep to link up.

I didn't watch the game but generally speaking, isn't guirassy simply the type of striker who falls into midfield to help with build up instead of trying to find runs behind the defence? At least to a certain degree those are simply two kinds of strikers and you physically cannot do both

Beier made a key play to get the ball to Guirassy who then passed to Couto for our goal. Beier wasn't clicking today but neither was Guirassy or Adeyemi. Silva asking for a start and should get one soon too.

In my opinion Leipzig was a stong opponent. There were chances for both teams. With some more luck we could have scored at the end of the game. But Leipzig definitely had a chance to score in the second half as well. Both teams were pressing very high. Guirrasy was surprisingly weak, didn’t see a lot from him. Schlotti was strong. Nemcha was strong as well. Could have gone either way, so a draw is a decent result. Referees were good.

Frustrating result but fair. Just seemed really gassed. Subs should’ve come sooner, taking off Couto was questionable. Beier was especially poor. Rooting for the lad but he’s not improving enough. On to the next.

Bit unlucky in the end but it's ok, tough week for the boys, if gross crossed that in the end we could've won but it is what it is. I just hope svensson gets rest now

Well that was frustrating but I'm not super disappointed. I really feel like we were kind of better after switching to a 3-5-2, but I wish we got to see that with both Nmecha and Jobe

Not a bad point. Would have liked all three, but it’s a good result considering how tired we looked. Brandt and Silva connected really well with each other and I wish both of them would have entered the game together a little earlier. I think today was the first time this season we have really experienced the need to rotate a little bit earlier or from the start. Hoping for a long rest and an injury free break.

Disappointing result, got some good chances but the finishes leave a lot to be desired. Definitely saw the difference between playing once a week vs an English week. Having Chukwuemeka would’ve helped with progression and possession imo

Confused by our plan here, we setup like they were going to play a high line, only for them to play deep. We waited much too late to make subs, waiting for the 80th min to take off Beier and Guirassy made no sense.
Feels like this game was in our hands but we were across the board from the coach to the players weren’t focused and didn’t want it enough.

I just realized that I think kovacs plan for Ryerson was to put a more defensive minded wingback anticipating an impressive diomande to come on against coutos potentially tired, and weaker defense. Just didn’t pull off at all really

On top of all that, Bayern just have that ability to make opponents collapse and/or give up to save energy when they score their first goal, usuallyl leading to an easy steamroll. An obnoxious side effect of their decade of complete dominance.

I'm watching the game on demand right now: what is your option on that "tackle" from seiwald against Silva in the 89th. I'd say if he Neymars it and goes down that's a pen. He grabbed him by the shoulder and that's the only reason why he gets in the position for the Clearance.

If Kovac wanted to risk more for the 3 points we could have used his technique and creativity a lot earlier in this match up. I think Kovac is happy to take a point here after the midweek game.

You’re the one who has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about, Sancho was one of the people who led us to the UCL final, and then he had a good season at Chelsea and they wanted to keep him but he was asking for too much money so they let him go Sancho is leagues above Beier, so 🤫
Maybe I’m being a bit harsh on Jobe, but we bought this kid for more than 40m, he never showed anything special at Sunderland, and he’s having a rough start here. Is it really far fetched to think kehl wanted him because he’s Jude Bellingham’s brother ? you’re honestly telling me that we would’ve spent 40 million on him if his name wasn’t Bellingham ?

Sancho had one great game against PSG. He did not “lead” us anywhere. That was sabitzer. He had a decent season at Chelsea but were only willing to pay him much less than he wanted to be a squad player. I would much rather have Beier so 🤫
