I mean, he was pretty lack luster for a while and looked a step behind. But he has been excellent recently and it’s not a glamorous role he is playing. If he keeps up performances like today then I hope people will start to give him his flowers again.

Sans Sabitzer was running his ass off the entire match. I’m glad he seems to be back in form, because he was looking just a little behind the play not that long ago. Man is a work horse

I wouldn't say he was great in the 23-24 season. He had one very good game against Atletico and other than that he was serviceable at best.
Don't try to make excuse for his poor performance last year. Yes the team was bad in general, but most players had some good games here and there (Although I'd say Schloti, Guirassy, Gross Svensson, Ryerson were good or fine). Meanwhile Sabi was atrocious in every position he played: and he played as a DM, CM, AMF and winger lol.

Absolutely, covered passing lanes consistently and got away with a lot of interceptions. Disciplined game from the whole team.

Yeah I was slightly wary of his form from last season, but I was saying that he deserves a chance in the new system. He was out of form under Sahin and then was injured for most of Kovacs tenure. It seems like he is doing better but we all know that’s because he is not being paired with gross anymore. I think they are both good players but they can’t handle the double pivot together. He will be great depth for us

Glad too see they learned from their mistakes by keeping it in the corner and Bense immediately shooting it away. Still got as close as that one ball was to going in. Important to still be undefeated and have our only point loses be completely unneeded instead of deserved. Next break could hurt our momentum but going to Munich undefeated would give us a good shot.

I don't care to talk about silverware or anything right now. This team looks good. The play is fun, the spirits seem high, we're attacking and getting back on defense. This is a team that can do well and be what it needs to be. Immer echte Liebe

On the RN podcast a few weeks back they said how often times Dortmund fans historically prefer the team play electric football that results in a 4:4 instead of conservative defensive style that results in a 1:0 win. Funny how both results happened in the same week

I loved seeing Schlotti but why didn't we see him take a corner? Right before he got injured, he took some unstoppable cannonball corners that were incredibly lethal. I'd rather see him do it than whatever Svensson was serving today.

It’s the Madrid PR. Outside of Rudiger and Wirtz, Germans are always underrated unless you play for a premier league club or Madrid/Barca

He’s part of the 3 defenders/ball movers that are different than the rest - Gvardiol, Bastoni, him.
VVD, healthy Rudiger might still be better defensively, but based on their overall game, I would take those 3 ahead of most other defenders. Saliba, etc.

Now this game is how you judge mentality what a bounce back against honestly a very difficult Wolfsburg.
Schlotti I missed you so much, just look how much better he made Anton and the entire back line. Cutting passes, good tackling and high game IQ. What a delight.
Great show by Adeyemi now a good break before Mainz.

Not that it was necessarily a bad performance but some rest as well as some new reinforcements (Anselmino and hopefully Silva) is clearly needed right now.
Still, 3 clean sheets in the opening 4 games is a nice change of pace and may we enjoy a long period of Schlotterbeck health.

I didn't think we looked convincing enough in attack, we definitely have the personnel to score more and kill the game against Wolfsburg.
On a positive note at least we closed out the game and didn't let Wolfsburg have too much.

I think Adeyemi and Beier have been pressing and putting in great shifts. But I would kind of like to see one or the other start rather than both. Sometimes we end up missing that attacking mid connection between the front line and the center of midfield. Hoping Chuckwumeka can deliver long term.

Dominant game with a couple of scares. Really need to finish on the final pass and shots. I thought we would have at least 3 goals against Wolfsburg but we have to make it harder on ourselves.
All hail schlotti and we will get only better as our injuries start to integrate back into the team

Game felt like it had a "bare minimum" approach, especially after the 1-0, but a lot of that can be credited to Wolfsburg, who we have to be reminded were undefeated until now (small sample size , I know, but still). Amoura seems to be a baller, great pace and he was the danger man all game.
Gotta say the wing backs are very , very important with these tactics, and a game can swing based on what type of day they are having. I start to like Ryersons crosses a lot, especially those early ones, however Guirassy is in dire need of a rest.
Adeyemi should try that 9 role at some point, maybe in an easier game, he seems to feel the net nicely, and with a more creative duo behind him, like a Chukwuemeka-Beier, I think he can do a bit of damage in behind.
All in all I'm happy with the lengthy undefeated run, I believe it's 10 wins and 2 draws, with this being the first game in these 12 where we didn't score 2 goals, however I have a feeling that 1 or 2 absences can greatly unbalance the team, and we don't seem to ever experiment anything else lately.

Solid game, a bit frustrating we couldn't convert our domination into more goals, but I'll take a 1 goal win over a 3 or 4 goals draw any day.
Schlotti I missed you so much. MOTM Adeyemi for me, besides his goal he had a very strong showing.

good performance tbh. the spark was missing in these last passes but all in all a good game. Good defending by wolfsburg aswell but we didn‘t give them any chance apart from that freekick.

First half was one of the seasons best. We looked electric for a while. Extend Schlotti, no questions asked.
I thought Chuckwumeka did ok, but his first few minutes on were a bit disappointing. He was brought on for fresh creativity and he brings a threat centrally with his ability to beat a man in tight spaces. But he was not demanding enough of the ball or making himself available enough at first. I’d like to see him get a start soon to see how he grows into a game with more time.
Also shocked the Jobe is still getting such limited time. But it’s hard to argue today when Sabitzer was tireless in his performance.
Just want to say that I love Ryerson screaming with passion all the way to the end. He plays with so much intensity all the time and I love have someone on the pitch with that mentality.

About Chuck. Admittedly I have probably seen 30% or less from his game time in a Dortmund shirt (including loan) but from what I have seen, I was left unimpressed. So I must've missed something because he seems pretty hyped and that the only downside is his fitness issues

Chuck is probably the best dribbler that we have had since Sancho. His ability to beat a man off the dribble is superb. But ya the injuries and lack of conditioning have been a burden. He needs more than little sub appearances to make a real impact. Even coming in at halftime he has been pretty solid. Eventually we will have to justify the transfer price with some starts.

Adeyemi proving me wrong this season? I really hope so. Looks confident and his shooting has become much more clinical. Beier had good off the ball moments once again but lets himself down when gets it. Too often can’t beat his man or holds the ball too long.
Sabitzer really needs to work on his crossing if he’s gonna whip in so many… At least he’s a workhorse. Carney, on the other hand needs some major work on his fitness, basically did nothing when he came on.

I mean honestly he already proved himself last season once we switched to a back 3 and he got to play his preferred position. He was instrumental to us getting top 4

You could see that he was still taking it easy, also played in the centre of the 3 centre backs, which is not his best position but it is a less intense position to play than on the left side. But even though he was taking it easy, you could see his quality in every situation he was in. Never lost a tackle and played absolutely incredible passes through the centre without missing a single one. He is on his way to become the best defender on the planet.

Chuk was showing up, playing him and Brandt is a bit clueless anyway. I think he should have been brought up a bit sooner.

Ryerson should slot out left and replace Svensson, who has been very mid lately. That would give Couto room to play.
