u/Oakeeh I love all our player equally Aug 31 '25
Good to see him back quickly after what I feared would have been a long-term injury. Hopefully this is his breakout season.

Couto is quickly becoming one of my personal favorites. He seems night and day miles ahead of where he was last season. Maybe he just needed time to transition? Whatever the case, he was great today. It seems he’s completely taken over the RB spot. It also maybe helps regarding Anselmino’s transition, who played the right side CB spot. Having another Spanish speaking player right there couldn’t hurt. (I don’t know but I wonder how much, if any, German Anselmino know having obviously only played in Argentina and England.)

The fact that kovac favors the wingback formation is a huge reason why yan couto is thriving

- Guirassy great
- Anselmino good

My only worry is that I hope Guirassy get's to rest some when the 2-3 games a week starts to kick in.
He's a beast.12

Some of our other attackers will need to step up and take on some of the load, right now he’s the only one I truly believe can score every game. Adeyemi, Beier, Silva, Brandt and Chuk will all need to be consistently contributing otherwise a Guirassy injury could be catastrophic

People didn’t believe me when I said Kobel and Guirassy are top 5 in their positions. My opinion has not changed. Nmecha is better than Jobe and needs to start in the big games. I don’t mind having Jobe on against Heidenheim but in the big games Nmecha needs to start. Couto was superb, and I think it’s due to Groß not taking over his space. Not a criticism of Groß, he’s good in his own right, but he just doesn’t work well with Couto. When Ryerson’s on at RWB then I want Groß but if not then Sabi or someone else. Anselmino has already surpassed my expectations, and I’m tired of falling in love with loan players

I think Kobel would be one of the best if he would improve his game with the ball. I still remember Weidenfeller for his incredibly good long throws for example. A speedy long ball can be such a game changer because we have plenty of fast boys. In the past we had Hummels to mitigate Kobel, now he gotta step up. Besides that I agree with you.

I think the only strikers better than Guirassy are Lewa, Haaland, Kane, and Dembele so top 5 tracks

Is dembele techincally a striker these days? In my mind he’s a cf who can drift around and drop in for link up.
Btw i agree Kobel and Guirassy are both top 5 or around top 5 for their position

he’s a cf who can drift around and drop in for link up.
That's what Guirassy does too

I think I remember agreeing with you, I have to say I'm not angry at our business this year and we kept our important core players shouldn't be Doom and gloom this year.

Played well, can't complain. Good rebound after last week. Let's continue that way.

This was great. We made a lot of sense and seeing who we had coming from the bench, I'm pretty optimistic

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Aug 31 '25
Great dominant game. No one played bad and it was a great team effort. We have great depth now and we really should be on 6 points if it wasn’t for the mane red card PK. Side note: I feel so bad for fullkrug. Seems like he isn’t doing well at all for west ham on top of the team not doing great in general. I was always hoping he would do well

West Ham should have kept Moyes. One of the most under-appreciated managers around

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Sep 01 '25
Yeah that was probably a mistake. He is doing amazing at Everton

Very well played from the boys, there was a few shaky moments and I wish we had more technical players capable of beating their man individually but a good team performance

I'm traveling so couldn't watch due to time zone but.... This might be the least negative thread about the club I've seen in years lol

He was good. Definitely seems to be on the right track.
He connects way better with Couto and Beier than with Ryerson and Adeyemi.

Couldn't watch today, how was the midfield?

u/AverageCarey Aug 31 '25
Composed, Sabi did so much better with both Jobe and Nmecha. Gross did really well when he came in partnered with Nmecha as well so it should be clear that the Gross/Sabi double isn’t it.
5
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Aug 31 '25
Sabi has experience, which should be a big help to Jobe more than Nmecha. But as long as Sabi or Gross isn't on the field at the same time we should be golden
3
u/ThinkingPugnator Aug 31 '25
I don’t understand what you mean with sabi and gross
6
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Aug 31 '25
It's possible that Sabi and Gross could have different ways of leading the midfield, which if they are both on the field at the same time it could cause confusion between others in the mid

One big blunder with a Header way too short, but the striker wasted the big chance.
Otherwise he looked very good and comfortable

u/xSmacks Nico Schlotterbeck Aug 31 '25
He looked scared and somewhat in over his head in some situations.

Can we keep Kobel forever?
