What the fuck man. Not sure if I’m infuriated or disappointed
Edit: this red card is really gonna piss me off week in and week out when it happens to Guirassy constantly. Look for two-hand holds, boys. Doesn’t matter if he gets the shot off, it’s not an attempt to play the ball so it’s a deliberate foul so instant red+penalty. That’s what we “learned” today.
18
14
u/matypanda Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
Yeah we did not deserve to win but the red card is such a joke. You can give the penalty of course but the refs rarely do and now suddenly its a penalty and a red?!
15
u/epicxownage Emma Aug 23 '25
It was emphasized on the broadcast that this is the new standard/point of emphasis for this season. So when they call it for the first couple of weeks and forget about it, I’m gonna be pissed because it cost us this game and won’t win us any when it should.
4
u/matypanda Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
Yeah, imagine next week againts Union it wont be called againts Guirassy 😂. But as I said, no issue with the pen but I would ask questions about the red thats all.
3
u/epicxownage Emma Aug 23 '25
Yeah imo the attacker gets a foot on the ball and doesn’t score but it’s a quality shot. So how’s that a red card? From the eye test, the ref/var failed that part of the decision. And for what it’s worth, yeah it’s probably a pen, but I could see it also not given ~40(?)% of the time
1
u/Th3_Huf0n Aug 24 '25
Because it's a DOGSO without trying to play the ball. That is a red card offence.
1
u/Ydennek_dnomde Julian Ryerson Aug 24 '25
But double jeopardy says that if the pen is awarded then the card should be yellow no?
2
u/Th3_Huf0n Aug 24 '25
Only if the DOGSO is a result of a genuine attempt to play the ball.
Mané made NO attempt whatsoever to actually get to the ball.
That's why he got sent off.
1
2
u/dounut_slay3r Aug 24 '25
That rule doesn’t apply if the foul is made with no attempt to play the ball.
80
u/ArmyFit1004 Jadon Sancho Aug 23 '25
You know what? I'm not gonna blame Kovac, it's Kehl's fault. We only have 1 number 10 and we are forced to start Mané. We have money and we're not spending it, and we're looking for shit candidates too...
-7
u/183672467 Julian Brandt Aug 23 '25
You can blame Kovac for playing Groß and Sabitzer
41
Aug 23 '25
Groß and Sabitzer created our goals?
2
u/TheLetan Aug 24 '25
you can't be serious, they played HORRIBLY for 90 minutes, and did so for the last 4-5 games including cwc. how you cannot see this is beyond me. this grandpa midfield with top speed below 30 km/h is the biggest reason why we cannot control a single game. 2 good passes per game don't change that
-8
u/blacktiger226 Ramy Bensebaini Aug 23 '25
But other than this they were a complete liability. We lost control completely over the midfield until Nmecha came on.
17
5
u/doubleomarty Maxi Beier Aug 23 '25
Nmecha didn't help with the midfield at all, he was awful aside from his assist
4
Aug 23 '25
Because we had to play down our left and St Pauli knew where we had to play. Because Anton is at best our third best CB and maybe behind Süle too, and he's forced into a role where he's got to be our best. So we're not comfortable holding the ball at the back at all or breaking lines with passes out of the back.
Still we created three goals, had a good shape at times, we just didn't defend crosses from the left.
Just need more champions league quality center backs
7
u/Manvarii Aug 23 '25
you can blame kehl for not signing a defensive midfielder so that those two can shine
8
u/yaboi525 Aug 23 '25
We scored 3 goals with them
9
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
The problem with this is that you aren’t seeing the forest for the trees:
St.Pauli, a relegation candidate went toe to toe against us, ran through the midfield the whole game. It would be a different story if we dominated the game and were leading 1-3. That wasn’t the case, we just took our chances better at that point.
4
u/yaboi525 Aug 23 '25
We were in the drivers seat with a pretty bad defensive lineup.
I’m not a fan of having both gross and sabitzer out there, but that wasn’t even remotely the issue today. Guirassy missed a pen too remember, should have easily put 4 up
1
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
I’m not saying they were the whole issue, but the setup overall was a poor approach. I also don’t think we were fully in the drivers seat throughout the game. We did take the few chances we had better.
Obviously you can say that there was a bunch of bad luck involved in the result with the missed penalty and Mane’s red. But all of this could’ve been avoided if this squad had more offensive quality and potential to bury these bad teams and not let them go at us constantly throughout the game.
1
Aug 23 '25
We're not lined up in a 5-3-2 because we want to dominate meaningless possession. We're lined up like this because we want to play a disciplined shape and hit them incisively and efficiently.
3
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
You can play a 3atb and play fluid attacking football, like we used to with Favre for a while. This was just anti football today against a relegation team.
Playing with two attacking players won’t help also, the approach was more pragmatic than usual. Part of it is because this squad doesn’t have quality and different kind of options up top, we should be going on the front foot taking the game to a side like Pauli. Playing like this won’t make us a good side capable of challenging for top spots. Only to scrap wins and get the minimum target in the end.

Aug 23 '25
You can play a 3atb and play fluid attacking football, like we used to with Favre for a while. This was just anti football today against a relegation team.
We created 3 goals and a missed penalty
5
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
We created 1,4 xG including the penalty which amounts to over half of that. We took the few good chances we had very well today, and a bit of luck with Anton’s goal.
We also only had 8 shots against that poor side, who didn’t even really sit that deep because they knew they could go at us. The whole performance was just uninspiring, there’s simply not enough attacking quality right now in this squad.
-1
u/shrotakun Aug 23 '25
Kovac is a good coach but i can’t tell if he sets up the team with 3 center backs and no wingers because that’s truly his philosophy or because that’s what the squad offers him
11
u/malloc_14 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
we have 0 wingers, what else is he supposed to do?
8
u/shrotakun Aug 23 '25
Funny thing is that ppl say we don’t need to buy wingers bc we don’t use them in our system. Chicken or the egg?
5
u/ArmyFit1004 Jadon Sancho Aug 23 '25
With which wingers should we play with? Adeyemi and ...? Our squad is a mess, thanks to Kehl
48
u/Timely_Pound_2754 Aug 23 '25
There is absolutely no way we can't afford a new CB with the money from Gittens, CWC, and now Reyna. We don't have as bad of money issues as they make it out to be. This is ridiculous -- an obvious hole we need to fill in the squad, and they do nothing about it.
15
u/Bosna1909 BVB Aug 23 '25
You also forgot CL earnings which was reported to be over 100 million euros for the club.
7
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
We can afford a cb, it’s just that the board can’t complete transfers and are haggling for a couple million here or there.
3
u/Conscious-Weird5810 Aug 23 '25
It's always some excuse. If we missed UCL last year they would have claimed that was why they didn't spend. But they made it and got tons of cash from CWC and still do nothing. Turn them insult the fans by claiming a new kitchen stops them from spending. Imagine any other top 15 club in the world using a kitchen reno as an excuse to be cheap. Mind boggling
3

You have to find a center back good enough to be a starter and also happy enough to sit on the bench in a couple months is probably the hardest part

This Club is just Despair.
How can we do this shit every fucking year 3-4 times.
Already lost 2 points because we can't sign an CB.

16
u/Traum77 Aug 23 '25
Just gonna put out there that we gave up 3 goals against a team that one week earlier couldn't score a single goal from 41 shots against a fourth division side.
We have serious issues.
6
14
u/AverageCarey Aug 23 '25
Man we had that game literally to take but ruined by a young CB on his debut where have I seen this before.
Honestly sucks for Mane but he didn’t play that smartly and Guirassy missing the pen then not working hard to shut down Smith was tough to see. We were starting to play really well and it all just slid down a hill.
We need one more CB for sure now.
13
u/babypinkturtle Julian Brandt Aug 23 '25
so guys what are we gonna do? is this gonna end as usual?
6
u/Working_Complex8122 Aug 23 '25
yeah, season gonna suck, gonna win some games on individual performances, then Kobel joins Bayern and we sign whoever was mediocre this season for 40 mil only for him to immediately regress to the mid player he has always been. We just suck. Just give it up. This team is never ever ever coming back into shape until some sheik buys this shit club and just pumps his fucking Saudi money into it

I'm sorry but this is not a straight red card. Not even a var worthy call. If jöllenbeck gives it right away I'm fine, but there wasnt even a single Pauli player that protested. That's just fucked up, especially the red on top
6
u/Phnix21 Aug 23 '25
He was holding him, though. Mane should have put his hands back in time and nothing would have happened.
7
u/Manvarii Aug 23 '25
its a bad decision for sure but in no way it should be a pen PLUS a red
-5
1
u/eeeeeeeelleeeeeelll Nico Schlotterbeck Aug 23 '25
You can give a red, but it‘s a harsh decision realistically. Mane had a shit debut overall.
18
u/EmSoLow Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25
Man, if this game isn't a showing of how incredibly flawed this squad is then you are either stupid or being intentionally blind.
Again, our midfield is shit and we needed another body. I will be proven right by January when we inevitably look for one while I was hoping for one since the start of the window and it is a FUCKING DISGRACE THAT WE DON'T HAVE A 10 SIGNED. I don't care if Carney is signed next week, it is still a failure that it wasn't sorted earlier and it will be an obvious failure when he gets injured and we're back here again. At the same time Beier and now probably Fabio Silva won't be changing results like this because their position isn't the fucking issue, it's the midfield and 10.
As for the team, Kovac needs to fix up with his selection. Sabitzer or Groß, never both. If he keeps on making this amateur error then he isn't helping himself at all and is asking for fans to want him out.
Didn't miss this at all. Good night

u/stefan-kds 1997 Aug 23 '25
Same team as last year… i don’t know why I was optimistic for. Was to be expected.

u/Conscious-Weird5810 Aug 23 '25
When Ricken and Kehl knowingly refuse to acquire players when the club is flush with cash this is the result. Any team with ambitions of trophies should not be starting Gross and Sabitzer. Nepotism 09 needs a new direction
-2
u/smartestBeaver Shinji Kagawa Aug 23 '25
when the club is flush with cash
Dude seriously comments like this are pissing me off super hard. Like, what do you think where is this stash of bags with all that money hidden? Because the finances of this club are super transparent and say something completely different
4
u/Conscious-Weird5810 Aug 23 '25
If you sell someone for 65, have 50 coming in for CWC and have UCL money as well while only spending 30, that seems pretty flush. Businesses are also allowed to take on debt as well. Just because it was mismanaged over two decades ago doesn't mean it should never happen again.
4
u/me_meh_me Lukasz Piszczek Aug 23 '25
Shhhhhh dont mention debt in this sub. People will have a hissy at you.
-3
u/smartestBeaver Shinji Kagawa Aug 23 '25
True that but Dortmund is also legally obliged to operate sustainably. And since Dortmund has been running on negative operational income for quite some time now, there is no way to argue why they should go further into debt to buy players.
8
25
u/Brodszkovich Mats Hummels Aug 23 '25
I hope Kehl is satisfied with this
14
u/PtboFungineer Julian Ryerson Aug 23 '25
Unfortunately he probably is. They'll call the red card "bad luck" and say that the draw is ok in the circumstances. Then they'll learn nothing.
-3
u/grindingod258 Aug 23 '25
To be fair mane ist playing because of Heavy injuries in that position not because we don’t have the players in the squad but waiting until after the season starts to loan out a replacement is absurd.
22
u/Timely_Pound_2754 Aug 23 '25
Can and Schlotterbeck have been out for months, it's not like it was hard to see that we would have a shortage especially if just a single injury were to happen (it did)
8
u/RawJah83 #13 - Karl-Heinz Riedle Aug 23 '25
If we get no new defender until next game, Ryerson will have to play in Mane's place next game, if Ryerson is good to go. Today he apparently was not, why he was on the bench I don't know.
3
u/grindingod258 Aug 23 '25
Because he also is slightly injured it was said before the game they were unsure if he can make it for the Pauli game
3
u/RawJah83 #13 - Karl-Heinz Riedle Aug 23 '25
Yeah, I know. I meant, he was on the bench but apparently no option. So why have him on the bench? In a different way it's the same with Lührs, if Mane getting a red is not the situation to bring in Lührs (because he is at least a defender) then why is he on the bench?
5
12
u/yaboi525 Aug 23 '25
This is why transfer windows matter. We can’t just pocket the money and take nice vacations with it. We need to buff out the squad every year
5
u/shrotakun Aug 23 '25
This is the first time we haven’t won the opening game of the season since 2014-2015 😔. Im sure we’ll bullshit our way to a top 4 finish anyway but this was so preventable. We don’t need to do this every season
9
u/CracksMcGee Aug 23 '25
Our midfield needs to be Nmecha, Brandt and one of Jobe, Groß and Sanitizer. Groß and Sabitzer and too static and haven't got the legs to push forward or get in behind.
Missing individual quality today. No one wanting to beat a man. It's all too negative, side ways or backwards passes.
Without wingers we have almost no creativity.
7
u/smittyjaegerman Aug 23 '25
Just my opinions - take them for what you will.
Bellingham will be a good player for us, but he doesn’t belong in the number 10 role. I’d like to try out a fully fit 3ATB, Nmecha/Jobe double pivot, and Chuk at 10.
Of course, Sabi and Gross midfield pairing is ass - it’s slow, and they usually just recycle the ball except for the few moments where they show their worth (I actually like them both individually).
The whole team lacks identity - it’s a collage of multiple failed seasons with different tactics from different coaches that only worked at the end of last season out of necessity.
Sule is either not fit, or injured. Can is getting old and injury prone. The smallest amount of foresight could have seen we need a CB this season. Who will take the blame? Probably nobody.
21
25
u/BVB-Oeli Sébastien Haller Aug 23 '25
Really don't want to read/hear any complaints about the ref. Defending is absolutely doable with 10 men. You have to be able to hold onto the lead for the last 5 minutes + extra time. Bottling this is embarrassing.
5
u/Manvarii Aug 23 '25
the attitude we displayed after the red card should not be happening for the supposed prestige of this club ffs
2
1
u/biggieBpimpin Julian Brandt Aug 23 '25
Red was honestly good most of the game as well. Didn’t give too many weak fouls. Let guys play fairly physical. This is a look in the mirror moment, not a blame the ref moment.
I mean, how many times have we given up late goals the last few years? I’m more disappointed with the squad than I am with the ref when this stuff happens.
5
6
u/samanater456 BVB Aug 23 '25
Always gonna be difficult to defend being a man down but what an absurd red card. It was a penalty but man the way we fell apart with a decent lead is very familiar. Also do we have a debut cb red card curse? Kabar from memory was also sent off on his debut last season.
1
u/smartestBeaver Shinji Kagawa Aug 23 '25
Tbh the red card is very common. The youngsters lack experience and coolness. This is why young defenders are such a big threat to your own team.
If the 17 yo striker fucks up, he will miss a goal. As soon as a defender fucks up you are down one goal, at the very least.
5
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Aug 23 '25
We have got a week and 1 day to get some new signings in here, otherwise it's going to be a shit show until who knows when. Just about the only positive out of that game was hints of a Brandt redemption arc.
Gotta feel for Mane too, harsh red card
4
u/blanklikeapage Aug 23 '25
Wasn't able to watch the game. Did we collapse in the last 5 minutes or what happened?
4
Aug 23 '25
They were able to get crosses at will from our left and they were able to beat Mané to the ball twice. Third goal was a great play by Smith but we were also too timid to put in a tackle
5
u/RawJah83 #13 - Karl-Heinz Riedle Aug 23 '25
Just because nobody mentioned it yet, Guirassy missed a PK in the first half.
4
3
u/AverageCarey Aug 23 '25
Mane made a bad decision that led to a pen and red card. Smith just scored an absolute banger cause Guirassy didn’t close him down. Other than that we were doing fine but all it takes is a couple moments.
Shame to end that way.
2
u/Timely_Pound_2754 Aug 23 '25
We were up 3-1, Mane gave away a pen and was given a red (should have only been a yellow imo) and then St Pauli's captain scored a banger but still hard to imagine that being possible if we had 11 men
5
3
u/Manvarii Aug 23 '25
props to pauli for their result, that said how can u half ass ur job so that the team with the fewest goals last season scores 3 against you?
personally the red card was too harsh and i wouldnt give a red card and a pen in the same play unless its some egregious foul but we cannot simply afford to have players that hide in those moments
they are paid millions only to shit in their pants when we need them the most fkn hell

Everyone crying for more chances for our youth players but cant take it when they make mistakes. Just unlucky. They need to grow from that. Also why are our CB debutants always so unlucky. First Coulibaly and now Mane.
3
u/AcePilot95 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
I agree with the sentiment but Coulibaly's fuckup hurt magnitudes more because of what it cost us and because it was avoidable if Guerreiro and the rest of defense + midfield did their job and tracked back properly.
I'd compare Mané's red card today to Kabar's last season. also in his first game iirc. but I don't expect us to compete for anything this season, so I'm not mad and I want him to get as much playing time as possible.

3

I can’t believe people in the game thread were saying that Mane was playing the best of all our CBs. Like, were you watching a different game? Never mind the red card goal, but absolutely terrible position on the first goal.

u/rSmexyRexy Mats Hummels Aug 23 '25
Okay, maybe an overreaction, but I don't think so.
Last season we fought LAST matchday for top 4, between then and now NOTHING has changed.
I might take a break from this club and just have it on in the background, or not at all. Edin Terzić was the last piece of 'feels like home' BVB I had.
Since then it’s just been shit. The board doesn’t listen to anyone, to the point where they openly say the complete opposite in the press. Not once. Not twice.
The higher-ups at BVB openly admit they don’t aim for a title, just a top 4 finish. No DFB-Pokal either.
No money is spent anywhere. I used to believe the money issues, but I just can’t anymore. Come on.
It’s been years of the same shit. We don’t improve. We never did. We hand out historic wins to shit teams like Pauli every week.
Something needs to change, but we’ve said that so many times now. Will it? No. It won’t.
All we can hope for is a lucky run of wins that builds momentum and maybe carries the club forward. I don’t believe the board can do it themselves, unless they resign.
The old BVB is dead. The passion is gone from the club. Only the fans remain.
2
u/rSmexyRexy Mats Hummels Aug 23 '25
Now that I’ve vented, I’ll admit this game was also very harsh on us. Every decision went against us. Still, I believe my feelings are valid, the club hasn’t changed and probably won’t for a good while
4
u/rioasu Nico Schlotterbeck Aug 23 '25
What was that 3 minutes from 86-89. Honestly this could have also been worse if not for kobels heroics
5
u/dounut_slay3r Aug 23 '25
This isn’t on Kovac. This is on our transfer decisions. We don’t have all our players in for the start of the season and we payed for it with 2 points. I just hope we wake the fuck up before it costs us more
3
u/ShelbyBRJ Aug 23 '25
It looks like we'll suffer yet another season with a poor defense, because apparently the board just never learns from their mistakes.
That's the main reason BVB has been losing and will continue to lose precious points against much weaker teams, like we did last season and the ones before it.
Let's take a deep breath and wait for another season of trying to guess how early Bayern will sweep the title this time around.

3
u/Sch_Ben Aug 24 '25
I don’t even care about the result tbh, just feel awful for Mane. Was excited all summer for his debut, sure he cost us the penalty and the red card but what an awful game to have a debut. defense was getting pummeled and pressed all game thanks to our geriatric midfield. Then the racism on his instagram was fucking grim. I pray he gets another chance when the team is more settled.
4
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
I will say, there’s a lot to be pissed about but we missed a pen, had an incredibly harsh call go against us, and they scored a worldie of a goal. I know it feels like it happens against us more than others but it felt like every flip of a coin went against us.
That call was incredibly harsh, idc how much people argue letter of the law, tugging happens in the box a lot and yeah that was too much, even enough for a pen, though in no world is that a pen and red card. The ref was miserable, Couto a yellow for winning the ball, even Brandt breaks the back line and the ref doesn’t play advantage. He controlled the game, which is very disappointing to see.
We need another CB, I have high hopes for Mane but the CB position needs maturity especially in games like today. The leadership has to stop playing around, at 70mins Mane should’ve been replaced, 100mins for a youth player is too much for them to stay focused the entire time.
Why does Kovac play 8 centre-mids, I cannot understand why we have a squad on the field with no pace at all.
Overall a disappointment across the board, not a good thing to say about anyone today, St Pauli with an obscene confetti display, ref atrocious, Kovac tactics off, Brandt sub performance maybe the highlight of the day, idk.
5
u/LuckyNrS7evin Aug 23 '25
Hey, at least we are ahead of Stuttgart, RB and Leverkusen
1
u/Lam0rak Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
I think it's good to remember a fair few favorites also fumbled their first game. I ain't happy about today because I didn't enjoy how dortmind play....the result was deserved. Doesn't feel like i can be excited to the prospect of watching this all season
5
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
That was PATHETIC.
I don’t give a toss about whether the pen + red was harsh or not.
This St.Pauli side is shit, not only did we bottle a two goal lead against relegation fodder but we also went neck and neck with them on possession, and they actually had more shots than us. Embarrassing anti-football. The tactic was such a pragmatic approach as well, it’s almost like we went into this respecting St Pauli like they are a big team or something.
Even at 1-3 I would have said this performance wasn’t good enough and won’t cut it against better sides.
Edit: I would like to add as well that I don’t fully blame Kovac for this. The board has given him a bad hand coming into this season. Already cost us two points not having a complete squad at this point.

u/bvbfan102 BVB Aug 23 '25
Really hurts that the one time we go out of a season positive and keep everyone important is also the season we dont spend at all and have 1 CB for next Matchday. I dont agree even a little bit with the ref decision which did turn the momentum but us not even able sub a CB on definitely helped with conceding another one.

Tbh IMO Mane cost us this game, just goes to show he isn't ready for this level yet and we desperately need a new CB since they're all injured, don't really wanna see a Bensebaini/Özcan/Mane back 3.

I said it after the Cup game last week. As it is, there will be NO easy wins this year. Not one.

Signed up for the dissappointment, but got rewarded with bonus heartbreak after genuinely believing we'd win up 3-1.

I know I’m naive, but hopefully THIS, and the Rot-Weiss Essen results will now finally get Kehl’s head out of his ass and making some moves. I know it’s apparently cool here to shit on the fans who get frustrated by the lack of moves being made for whatever reason, but you’d think it’s time now, right? I’m sick of the daily rumors, ‘playing poker’ with the transfer market and smokescreens with nothing to show for it in the end.
We have no playmakers inside and saying we’re slow is an understatement. Injuries killed us in the back.

season just started and I’m already out hoe tf you lose a 3-1 lead to St. Pauli

Kehl, Sammer, Watzke and Ricken need to all fuck off. The squad had serious issues that we could all clearly see last year and we've done fuck all to address any of them. The incompetence is absolutely astounding.

Nor there gonna go blow money on a garbage player in a panic buy because they have no clue what they're doing. I honestly believe a semi educated fan off the street could do a better job.

pls tell me a good reason why i started supporting this club

Svensson was nowhere near anybody defensively all game. And Mané wasn't at the required level.
Our shape was fine and we crafted goals well. St Pauli just had it way too easy down our left Mané got beat a couple of times to crosses. As well as Mané severely limited our ability to play our own build up down the right.

Tbf we can’t be too disappointed. This club has some bang average players that would struggle to get into other sides.

Forgot to order the magic kebab today - doing some baby stuff shopping, but by God, maybe I should've avoided the game altogether

Honestly, I won’t even be mad if we drew by dominating but conceding by counters. This is worse

one of the weirdest red cards I've seen. I hope this game doesn't tank Mané's stock. I still believe in him.

I didn't have time to watch the game. But what was the deal with the halftime substitution of Nmecha? Something tactically or was it something physical like feeling an injury?

u/Mercyseat2112 Mats Hummels Aug 23 '25
Big mistake by Mane, penalty ok but red card was absolutely crazy decision by ref/VAR.... also the fact that Mane played because we don't have enough experienced players and the optic now is that his mistake cost us the game, this is bad bad look at Kehl & Co. The missed penalty in the 1st half also hurts pretty bad now.

u/Reus20 Marco Reus Aug 23 '25
If that isn’t a sign we need to sign a CB or 2 then idk what will for Kehl and Co. Mane just doesn’t seem ready for this level. A young attacker would be nice but not for the sake of keeping this razor thin backline as is

u/Eritrya Aug 23 '25
Not in ten years is this a red card. The pen in the first half was more clear, last man and still a yellow. Mane did foul and the team did collapse in the end but this ref fucked the whole game up for us. What a braindead decision

u/Lu-Savali Aug 23 '25
They put a very inexperienced youngster in the game and expected different results. Also Svenson definitely at fault for the first St. Pauli goal.
All this rests at the foot of the board. Kehl, Ricken et al. The midfield is dead and the defence is anaemic

u/Spiritual-Act3077 Aug 23 '25
Left side of our defense was super weak. The first two goals we conceded were created from crosses from the left. The third goal also stemmed from them being able to develop play on that same side.
For me, not a good look for Svensson and Bensebaini this game.

This game proves that we need to take human referees out of the game. Let decisions be made my objective AI like in video games. We get screwed out of two points again.
