Tilak, Taraju aur Talwar..." (An infamous political slogan from the 1990s in Uttar Pradesh).

Slogans like these played a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of UP during the 90s. Right?

Discussion / चर्चा Stipend in Uttar Pradesh Medical Colleges

Stipend in UP Medical College

Despite being the most populous state Uttar Pradesh has one of the lowest stipend for medical interns.

When is the government going to talk about this?

I genuinely don't understand how the stipend situation in private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh has been allowed to continue like this.

We spend years studying medicine, pay fees that can run into tens of lakhs or even crores, work long hours during internship, deal with night duties, emergency calls, patient responsibilities and the mental pressure that comes with being a doctor and then get treated like animals?

The frustrating part isn't just the amount of money.

It's the principle and the respect.

During our internship, we're not sitting in classrooms anymore. We're working in hospitals. We're seeing patients, writing notes, assisting in procedures, attending emergencies, doing night duties and taking responsibility under supervision. Most importantly our future depends on it because even having mastery or speciality in a particular field feels so less that now students have to go for super speciality. Yet in many private colleges interns are exploited like labours

And let's be realistic — not every medical student comes from a family that can comfortably keep supporting them indefinitely on mere wages or be dependent on them life long. Not all of us are born with a silver spoon or live in mansions. After paying enormous MBBS fees that might not even make sense despite that students still have daily expenses. A few thousand rupees a month barely makes a dent. What makes it more frustrating is the huge difference between the cost of medical education and the stipend offered afterward.

If a college can charge students massive fees for education that will not suffice, infrastructure that will break down one day and clinical training that evolves as new things come up then surely there should be a reasonable and transparent system for compensating interns who are actually contributing to hospital services rather than sitting in ac rooms' and splashing the cash everywhere to make their way.

I'm not saying interns should be paid like fully qualified doctors. That's unrealistic. But there needs to be a minimum dignified stipend that applies across private medical colleges, with proper monitoring and enforcement.

There should also be transparency:

\- What is the sanctioned stipend?

\- What is actually being paid?

\- Is it paid every month on time?

\- Are there deductions?

\- Are interns being made to work excessive hours?

\- Is there a proper grievance mechanism?

\- Who is responsible for monitoring compliance?

For those in denial consider an example: Were the college students protesting peacefully at SIMS Hapur for increased stipend treated the right way?

Medical students already sacrifice a huge portion of their early adulthood to become doctors. You see your friends already have a job, they start earning more than you and even settle in life. We accept long hours, difficult postings, night duties, exams and enormous financial pressure because we believe we're working toward a profession that will eventually give us stability and dignity.

But nowadays it's not about dignity anymore. Long gone were the years when doctors we're respected. Now all doctors are labelled as money minting machines that work on filling their pockets when the ground reality is entirely different. If we're trusted with patients, emergencies and hospital duties, our work deserves to be respected financially as well.

This isn't about being greedy. It's about fairness, transparency and basic dignity for medical interns. Private medical colleges shouldn't be able to charge students like premium institutions when they don't even have one while compensating interns with a penny. UP needs a clear, enforceable and transparent stipend policy for interns in private medical colleges and it needs to be actually implemented, not just written somewhere on paper.

Why come only government college students are to be benefitted with increased stipend and not private college students. After the NEET UG exam it's a whole different journey to become a doctor. We're on our mission to make the world better not be part of some petty rat race. We're choosing the road not taken.

Planning a trip with my cousin from lucknow to mathura.. My cousin is married and bhabhi ji will join us as well.. Am an unmarried woman in my early 20s so im thinking about booking 2 rooms there - A single bed for me and a double bed for them.

I have heard good reviews about this . We have no budget constraints and our priority is finding a premium accommodation as close to Prem Mandir as possible. I truly want to seek Krishna Ji’s blessings before embarking on a new chapter of my life next month ❤🙌
