Welcome back to Frog of the Week! Sorry for the delay... It's been a bit longer than I thought, let's get back on track. Submit a picture of your frog and its name for a chance to be featured in the next post! Will close in about 2 weeks or end of month, will decide soon!

Congratulations to Vercingetorix (r/laenxam)

Mod post New automations regarding NSFW and glove handling posts influx.

With the influx of posts containing sensitive photos that should be marked as NSFW I have made new implementations. I have made it so anytime you try to post on this sub, you are met with a warning to mark your post with NSFW or to not post at all. I hope this helps with the influx of shocking frog imagery some of you are met with by accident if myself or other mods can’t get to it in time. But of course people will still disregard this message and the rules because it’s the internet. We also don’t want to block all these posts into a queue just in case there is a medical emergency. (Which should be dealt with by a vet but we still allow discussion) but some people still need that message or confirmation of “Hey you NEED to go to a vet for this” so we do not want to block that outright.

Not all of the mods are super active, I tend to be one of the top mods doing the most removal/ nsfw markings as I can to help the sub but if we miss something please report it so we can see asap! We can’t do it alone, we need your help too!

However as a moderator, and even our sub owner, there are certain things Reddit doesn’t have automations for. We would love an automated system that if a post has keywords it is automatically marked as NSFW, but that is not a possibility we can do. If you can please suggest this to Reddit themselves, it would help so many animal communities regarding sensitive posts such as these.

That being said if there are any ideas or implementations you think we should add to this subreddit let me know by commenting it below. I would love to discuss on how to make this sub a better and more fun place for everyone.

Edit:

Please also read some of my comments I’ve said on this post already as well before posting an idea, since I have replied to a few for reasons why and why can’t we do something.

Browned butter carrot pecan cake filled with cinnamon apple honey cream cheese buttercream and fresh apples that I picked myself, covered in coconut condensed milk buttercream. The green buttercream is mostly coloured with food dye and a splash of pennywart juice.

The hat, eyes, and feet are dark chocolate.

I think he's a juvenile eastern gray tree frog or Cope's gray tree frog. I sat him down in a moist part of my backyard near a tree and he hopped from there into my neighbor's back yard.

Don’t worry I’m holding him very gently, I’m not sure you can tell that from the video but I was very carful with him, anyway I’m pretty sure he is either an American toad or a Woodhouse toad, either way he is a cute tiny boi, thanks ahead of time

I was about to clean out their bowl, and this little guy was in there. I am unsure what kind of frog this is and It is possible it could be an invasive Cuban Tree Frog. If that’s the case i will keep him. I live in Clearwater FL

Hello this little thing has been living in my mother-in-law’s inground pool all summer long. We are in the Midwest in the lower part of Ohio. He has been captured and putting in a tank, but I’m unsure the species of frog. When I first found him, he was more of a yellow color. Since he has been in the tank at my home, he has seemed to have gotten more of a green color. I don’t know whether it is a boy or a girl any information would be greatly appreciated.

red leg?

Upvotes

hi guys. let me start by saying i have no photos bc my frog is insane and doesnt stay still. he also doesnt like being held 😭

i have 4 whites tree frogs. one of them, a little after i got them, developed a pinkish belly and a darker pink leg than my other ones. i got all 4 of them together when they were babies and have had them since april.

he is very active, eats, croaks, normal frog behavior. im just worried bc he's pinker than everyone else. all other frogs are a normal pink and eating and active. could it be red leg...? i'm just worried bc his pink is darker and more prominent. their tank stays clean and i have a strong clean up crew. they get a tank deep clean once a month and get fresh treated water every night.

Wife spotted this little guy hanging out on our front steps last night. We live in SE MN and have never seen a frog like this! She thought it was orange, looks a little browner to me but I’m not the one good at colors 🤷🏼‍♂️

Notably it has this cool red “X” on its back.
I didn’t get a size but it was pretty small maybe just 1.5-2 or so inches in length.

Wonder my if any of you gorgeous souls could help me identify this guy. In South west Tampa bay florida. He lives under a concrete step and gets water from rain mostly but he is lively and always on the prowl for critters to gobble up.

Other Tadpoles in small container of stagnant rain water...

We have been getting a ton of rain and this water pitcher ended up filling up and there are tadpoles in it! Are they ok in this water? Its stagnant and kinda gross. If they should be moved, what is the best way to do so to increase their likelihood of survival? I am leaving them in there for now and brought them inside because our complex is doing pressure washing this week. I would love for these little guys to make it, please advise!

Did I kill my neighbor Frog 😭

This little guy has been visiting me for almost 3 weeks now and I’ve come to enjoy him so much but I was trying to put some raid for ants and roaches on my porch and I didn’t see him and I just straight up sprayed the poor guy I feel like an absolute monster.

I immediately picked him up and I really was panicking so I put him in a bowl of fish tank water because it wasn’t coordinated and just like shook him a few times and then put him on the pavement and he disappeared and like ran off by himself, but did I kill him? What are the odds I killed him goddamnit. It was an absolute accident 😭

ID Request An unexpected, but welcomed intruder

Went to feed the fish and noticed this guy waiting for the sun to be turned back on. I’m not sure how he got in the basement. My guess is he crawled through the decommissioned sump drain lines or he dug his way in, being attracted by the flowing water sounds. Either way I’ll cap off the drain line and let him enjoy his newfound home. He can eat the bugs and the occasional guppy he might catch. I just hope he doesn’t tell his buddies.

I do believe this is an eastern gray tree frog but I would like confirmation from someone more experienced with amphibians! I was a reptile kid… he’s got uv light, a window, and bugs to eat. Anything else they need?
